Whilst Klang Valley is the most expensive state/area in Malaysia, it also has the best jobs and opportunities. Experienced professional jobs with 3 - 5 years experience can earn RM6,000 - RM12,000 these days. Once you hit 30's, you will have the housing component, i.e. rental or loan instalment. Usually, when you hit 30's and you are in a good field, you can earn more than RM10,000 already, even up to RM15,000.

I was saving 70% take home income when I was earning rm5k a month, why need a car when the monthly pass for unlimited trains and buses only costs RM50 a month? Insurance is not a necessity if company has healthcare benefits. You don't need to eat rm15-rm20 meal. There are still rm7-rm11 meals in KL, drink water in office, don't need to order drinks.

It is still possible to have rm20 daily budget for meals in KL. Choosing the right place to eat, even near KLCC area there are meals rm7-rm10. Breakfast just simple would do or could just skip.

If possible, don't own a car. Repairs, tyre replacement,insurance, road tax, license renewal, fuel, toll and parking fees put together are wealth killers.
@corporatebreakoutcouple
@corporatebreakoutcouple 6 месяцев назад
For Malaysians, it is quite necessary to own a car as the public transportation system isn't well connected everywhere and sometimes it takes a long time to get from Point A to B.
@abellyold4859
@abellyold4859 6 месяцев назад
@@corporatebreakoutcouple That is why I mentioned "if possible". I am aware and appreciative of your point though. In Malaysia, public transport network is not well integrated enough and lacks coverage for many areas, even in highly urbanized Klang Valley. On top of that, feeder buses and KTM are a pain in the ass to wait for,while MRT and LRT only cover certain areas.

@@corporatebreakoutcouple I have relatives who take MRT to work. But most of my relatives have to commute to work by using their private transport. My mom had to commute to work by her car. Monthly, every expense related to her car takes up at least 1/4th of her paycheck. She is paying installment for a car loan. My aunt used to commute to work by car. But once MRT became available, she switched to MRT in no time, citing cost and peace of mind. Rush hour traffic congestion is horrible. She lives in Cheras and works in Bangsar .

When we traveled back to Malaysia for the holidays, my wife (born in PJ) met up with her girlfriends. They went out shopping at a mall. My wife looked at the prices and thought she saw bargins. Her friends told her she was looking at the prices from the standpoint of someone living in the States and not a local. I still think it is difficult for the average person in Malaysia to make ends meet. Appreciate the vlog.

I used to save about 50-60% of net salary when I was making RM2.8k gross salary. Can refer to my other comment for the breakdown for RM5k take home income with 70% savings, but downgrade telco to rm25 prepaid and remove all entertainment/travel/subscription. All entertainment using free online sources via home broadband internet or mobile data. Doable but comes with sacrifices on quality of life. Proposed RM2.8k breakdown: 1. Transport RM50 (unlimited monthly pass for bus, mrt, lrt, monorail) 2. Telco RM25 (Yoodo Prepaid - 20gb data + 100 minutes call a month) 3. Food RM600 (RM20 a day x 30, eat out x2 meals everyday) 4. Pay for whole house utilities(water, electricity, internet) RM300 5. Insurance 0 (Company medical) 6. Others 0 (Entertainment, travel, subscriptions, nicer dining) 7. EPF/Sosco RM350 (Estimated) 8. Savings RM1.475k (60% savings on Take Home Income)

As per my research schooling for one kid will cost between 1500 to 4500 MYR. 4500 is very high end international schools to be honest a rip off. 1500 is affordable but with O levels I think home schooling or online tuition is a better option because syllabus is same and kids just have to appear in the exam. I think in 14000 MYR you can still afford 1500 per kid but savings would then be reduced to around 2000 or 3000 MYR
