Thanks for making this vid, I've never heard that you had to do this but now I know, so when I get rats (after 5+ years of research) I will clean clean their tails :)

I've never washed a rat and i had over 40. Never skin problems, never stank and a dirty tail? Never heard of it.

Only my two boys had this, because they had a bin full of dirt to dig in and later on didn’t clean themselves enough. My three girls had a box of dirt as well, but never had dirty tails, because they were more thorough. It also has to do with hormones. I only cleaned their tails like this twice during their lives so it isn’t really something that has to be done / done frequently.

Thank you so much for this video! I never knew you needed to clean a rats tail. I noticed one of my boys had so much of this all over his tail. Never knew what it was or how and if I should remove it. Now I know!

Thank you for posting this. My two girls don't wash their tails and I always had hard time cleaning them, because the dirt was hard to remove and that stressed my girls. I hope this will make them feel better and help me to clean their tails properly.
