@@rodneyhenchliffe754 You may not know that US started trade war first and western media is creating an anti-China sentiment and US plus some scholars (e.g. Adrian Zenz) fabricated false stories similar to Nayirah testimony to create reasons for unilateral sanctions to dampen China’s chance to overcome US. It is important to see things outside your own interests and from others point of view.
@@Keiz1122 Thanks for telling me all of that. But let's not be naive here, and its simply not good enough to say "... the US started trade war first" without considering why or if that is even true. More specifically, The CCP shrewdly acquires others' research by co-opting Chinese nationals, paying foreign scientists to recreate research in the People's Republic of China (PRC), and sending military officers abroad as civilians to steal technology and information to advance the PRC's military and economic development goals. The estimated theft of American trade secrets by China costs the United States “anywhere from $300bn to $600bn” a year. From the American's point of view, The FBI data shows an aggressively stepped-up campaign by US authorities to root out Chinese espionage operations pursuing American secrets. All of this has been going on for decades now - I have even seen this for myself. Then China moans when the U.S. weaponizes the dollar to strategically benefit its own foreign affairs interests. I totally advocate looking at things with an 'open view' as a way of factoring in the different sides, however appreciate that I have mentioned just some of the stuff that has been going on. Ultimately though, you have to draw your line and decide where you actually stand ("for better or worse") - i.e. you cannot not act. Those who want you not to act or give criticism will just tell you ... "you have to consider at both sides. This is a trick. A trick to prevent you from drawing your lines and standing by them. And I totally draw my line with the CCP trying to push its vision of Globalization using Totalitarian means and methods. You say: "western media is creating an anti-China sentiment and US plus some scholars (e.g. Adrian Zenz) fabricated false stories similar to Nayirah testimony to create reasons for unilateral sanctions to dampen China’s chance to overcome US" I say: taking your own doctrine of looking at things from both sides, hasn't it occurred to you that China's CCP also controls information, and, thereby doing so generates its own anti-Western anti-American sentiment? Hasn't it occurred to you that China's own scholars are 'bent' along these same lines by order of the CCP? (i.e. as mentioned in detail above) Forget Adrian Zenz!!!!! His research was just the initial "alarm bell", and since then the Chinese authorities have responded woefully inadequately in the face of a lot more highly compelling evidence that clearly corroborates Zenez' claim about the 'forced participation' and human rights abuses by China being mentioned here. Do you honestly believe that individual countries have sanctioned China 'lightly'? Do you honestly think that the EU would simply let America just order it to move against China in this way at the present time? (The EU has just signed a trade agreement with China and has somewhat 'frosty' relations with the U.S. at this time). In other words, you also have to consider the Geo-political picture too!

It’s truly amazing how many people by into the propaganda. Perhaps one day ! Maybe then the people in the CCP controlled mainland will have access to truth of what living under the CCP is really like. For all the accusations about how the US hates China , you really don’t understand them at all. The US does NOT hate the Chinese people. Now the CCP is totally different. They love the people in the free and independent country of Taiwan .
I think your guest Peter missed the whole point of EU sanctioning China. He is a bit naive to see through the double standard of US and the EU. These countries are still in the era of coloniasm .
Given the cosmetic nature of the sanctions, either the EU doesnt believe its own lies or the EU doesnt think much of Genocide and Mass Rape. Neither conclusion is good for the soul.
Double standard, what about the countries that did in the pass years of invading, killing, bombing. EU not sanction the countries who did it, how's the EU dealing the human rights?
Pieter C asserts that the EU is a democracy & is up for open debate & yet I don't see it offering the PRC any platform to contest these accusations. It's all very well saying the EU is democratic but on what basis are these democratic opinions formed? So far as I can tell, it's all based on one-sided allegations from individuals &/or bodies with anti-China agendas. Then to have the temerity to feel wronged by the PRC's response in kind to sanction certain people (a practice which I disagree with) following the EU's orchestrated sanction after meeting the their master, the US; so much so that they are threatening not to sign off on the trade agreement. If that is the case, so be it - it's more their loss than China's. As I've posted elsewhere, this should give China a chance to make use of the raw materials boycotted by the west to make their on finished quality products & sell under their own brands under their domestic market (dual circulation) & global south at low prices. The inflated prices of western brands only goes towards their P&L bottom line with no benefit to China in any case.
I have respect for the opinions of the lady (Zoon) as she is fair and accurate in her arguments regarding the topic being discussed. On the other hand I cannot say the same thing about the Pieter guy who is evidently pro-American and is just echoing and parroting the usual western opinions about China. This Pieter guy talks about "the rule of law" in the west. Does he think that there is no rule of law in China and that anyone from outside can say anything about China without hard evidence? It is discussion with people like him that will lead to nowhere, as he believes that the west is right and China is always wrong in spite of the lack of evidence to the contrary and the presence of abundant proof that Xinjiang is prospering under the rule of law by China.
As can be seen, China is well prepared for some time for these new attacks from the Imperial West as the counter-attacks are so swift. In quick succession, the joining of forces between China and Russia with the signing of a mutual protection agreement will be strong enough to withstand the US+NATO+QUAD

Unfornateky this host has accepted the western narrative as a given, and the whole discussion revolved around the western story line as if the accusations were real. Victor Gao made it amply clear, this whole issue about Xinjiang is not about human rights, but about vicious lies and fabrications by the west on the reality of Xinjiang. This is where the focus of the discussion should have been.
The US has lost the trade war with China and will lose the number one position in a few years. The US strategy in promoting hatred, conflict and bullying is not working well and therefore trying to align with other western countries to stop China in becoming the number one. You have done a great job in this well balanced dialog. Unfortunately EU is being pulled into this conflict by the US. Like one of the speaker said both the EU and China will suffer as a result if the EU/China trade agreement falls through. The US is smiling at a distance and perhaps will come up with some trade deals with EU on the side. Nonetheless I am positive that the EU can see through all the US deceptions.
No point to debate when the westerners has closed their ears, the only one thing you could wake them up is to impose sanctions and embargo or worst punitive measures
22 Western Christian countries and Japan wrote a letter to the UN criticizing China´s Xinjiang “camps”, but 54 countries, most of them Muslim-majority states, defended China´s Xinjiang policies? What is wrong?
Over the past 40 years, the population of the Uyghur ethnic group in Xinjiang has increased from 5.5 million to 12.8 million, and the average life expectancy has increased from 30 to 72 years. The fact that Xinjiang residents of various ethnic groups enjoy stability, security, development and progress, makes it one of the most successful human rights stories. However, some politicians in the US, the UK, Canada and the EU clearly don't want to acknowledge this fact. They grabbed the so-called "evidence" maliciously fabricated by some anti-China politicians and scholars, even though the so-called "facts" are nothing but patchwork based on false "internal documents", "victim statements" and information from unknown sources. They have even taken out of context and distorted Chinese official documents and data. All this proves that it's never human rights and truth that they care about. They just do not want to see China's success, development and better livelihood. That's why they have been using human rights issues as a pretext for interfering in China's internal affairs and frustrate China's development. What they have done is utter denigration and offense to the reputation and dignity of the Chinese people, blatant interference of China's internal affairs, and grave violation of China's sovereignty and security interests.
China stands for survival of the constant perpetual law of the universe and the universal nature of humanity (ren 人). In the words of Dao de jing (道德經): What enables the rivers and the seas to be king over all the valleys is that they are good at staying lower than them (江海之所以為百谷王者,以其善下也 ). I love China and I see Xi Jinping as a man who deeply cares for not only Chinese but humanity
Allmost every international ethnicity crisis is a difficult to solve complex reality. Although highly sensitive communities have a desire to respond to these realities in appropriate manner. In early history the media filled this gap with their idealistic intentions and certain people knew how to use it in their own favor. This is changing due to new technology and communication abilities. China is the leader in technology and communication and is overthrown by realizing their effects on western civilization. For the two big western parts US and EU this can be a far too big game changer to predict their policy outcome. It's just a situation of denials that EU putting sanctions, just like the US is in.
Anytime an Asian country has risen, it never matters how much European/Anglo countries are divided they will always unite to keep the Asian man down. Whether it was in 1901 or 2021. This is purely racial and has nothing to do ideological differences.
I admire the lady panellist most. She is very insightful and righteous. She should have been given more airtime. I also agree that tnough China has to stand up for her dignity and confront lies about Xinjiang, China should not play into Biden's hand and get the CIA endangered.

Hi from New Zealand. I find myself in agreement on the Chinese view in regards to the Afganistan diaspora. / It has been seen - the virtual documentary of the activities of the western 'above govt foreign policy teamsters' in the Ukraine in 2014, so anything theyve said is guilty by association of that which is their main game. A new cold war can only exist if one side is on the aggressive, and that is not the Chinese position - Now or ever? And please do consider that maybe what China is doing . . . . . . . is living the American dream. China is being a success and acting successful, and thus this must be preceeded by the development of relationships. Russia, China population means the reality of whats happening is - with the others that would join with these ones in a common goal/ground alliance is, by definition a new much larger empire than the British or American footprint had ever been.
I'll just add that I think all will fall because of this new phenomenon that is the Blockchain. This method of logistics perspective does to politics what fuel injection did to engine power and the western legacy systems are just not compatible with it. 80% unfit for purpose.
This is proving international cooperation are just as difficult as in America or the EU countries, with so much ideology fights, lies, accusations, these countries could not move ahead within their borders and they are making it a mess on the international scenes too, China will grow stronger over time without these nations, leave the in fighting to consume themselves within their border, better do what's necessary for China and develop better relationship with others that deserve it!
