we lost 5-2 against madrid in the season we finished 5th when our midfield was awful, our best midfielder that year was probably bajcetic genuinely, nothing against the players legacy’s but at the time their legs had all gone. Madrid has no pressure up top at all. vini rodrygo and mbappe pretty much disappear if they lose possession and the midfield is getting stretched because the fowards are disinterested on defense. Also they need to build chemistry attacking because there is a lot of confusion and questionable decision making because they do not know each others habits yet. I liked the old Champions League format a lot better. It was organized and you had a good feel for what your team needed to do and what you had to root for with other teams. Now it's a complete hodgepodge. I think people will find that this new format sucks and will change it in a year or two. If they wanted to add teams, they should have gone from 4 to 5 teams in each group and if they wanted to have an extra playoff round they should have had the 2's and 3's play home and homes before the knockout round with the twos having the advantage of an aggregate tie goes to them.
