How will the base-protecting Green Barrier affect The Battle Cats' future?

I'd definetly take a green barrier over traditional anti-cheese strategies that make the stage a lot more annoying than they need to be. Sure, it does seem like a simple band-aid fix, but like what one of the JP comments said, it really depends on what stages they decide to implement this in. I don't think they should be applied retroactively to older stages, I'm curious to see how Ponos would balance new stages with the green barriers in mind. Although, I don't really see the point in adding barriers to stages with bosses that spawn when the base reaches a certain percent because bosses can't be knocked back behind the base, in a way, the boss itself acts as the barrier. Unless the base has less than 100k hp, which is VERY uncommon in mid to late game stages, there's no way an LD unit would be able to snipe the base, making the addition of the barrier pretty redundant (although, way back when I first fought crazed tank, my Aphrodite destroyed the base before killing the crazed tank, but that was literally the only time it happened for me).

PONOS really saw the BCKR Socrates No Gacha Cheese, went "Yeah, that's enough", and proceeds to add guaranteed anti-cheese mechanic so that they can finally bring a true end to no gacha players when the next ZL boss comes. Amazing.

I hope this new mechanic isn't part of the new PONOS stage design philosophy of "you may only use this specific strategy/unit for this stage". Cheesing, although unintended, is a legitimate way of beating a stage, and reducing the number of possible strategies might be a step towards "this enemy/stage is design to only be countered by this specific unit, glhf". But again, this is PONOS, who are the least predictable developers ever.

I mentioned my thoughts on it being a unit warp counter-measure on Discord. I believe if there is a warp unit, though, it'd likely be very late-game or hard to obtain so that PONOS doesn't feel the need to add this to old stages. Definitely possible, I'd say, but who knows.

I'd rather this than 1 billion hp base and 80% spawn superbuffed brollows

It just bothers me that they could be taking away whole kinds of strategies from a STRATEGY game. Especially when, as pointed out, cheeses can easily be more challenging (and sometimes more fun) than a legitimate strategy.

This is a really good way of preventing cheese, but I hope they don’t abuse it. It should be mostly exclusive to important boss stages or stages with the green barrier built around it. I hope it isn’t just slapped onto every stage with a timed boss

I think green barrier with miss haka or big sal will be a pretty interesting stage, coz it forces you to kill them instead of killing the enemy base before they reach yours

Was gonna say that the whole units potentially getting warp ability from this is kinda make sense. Would be kinda cool to see if Ponos would ever think of doing that as well as giving filler to enemies that have warp immune for some reason. For example enemies like Ensanglion

i'd just be nice to not have high hp bases that take a while to destroy after already a while to slay the boss or just not having one of those stages that spawn powerful or annoying enemies on it. there's been stages where I struggled only cause of the enemies that spawn upon hitting the base due to my loadout not being made for them so if it helps with that kind of situation id be nice.

Ponos should make units with Base Destroyer able to damage the base even when the shield its still there.

What if a stage has two or more bosses, for example, The Red Cat Gambit? Would the barrier break after all of them are defeated or what?

As someone who as finished 4 crown sol and not even started ul this does not affect me in the slightest

I like the idea but most of the time cheesing stages are really hard I’d think that having it like a time limit (ofc like not too long) but like so you can’t kill the base before the boss spawns?

This seems im happy about this if they add to important stage like advents or cat gods if it goes on normal levels its kinda stupid

In my opinion that green barrier should be in the brutal stages to prevent cheesing

Maybe if Ponos gave us actual stages again i wouldn't be bothered by this but taking away an entire form strategy while we have been seeing nothing in return just really doesn't sit well with me. Especially so since socrates wouldn't have been (reasonably) possible no gacha if it weren't for the cheese. If they implement this more commonly i expect Ponos to make actual stages again instead of the slog they have been putting out.
