Yeah. Grocery games are back. So the Salmon was free. Daddy was a weekend fisherman so we had a lot of fish growing up. After the salmon steaks and fillets were cut, he would go through the scraps and use them to make salmon cakes which is what is in that can. So I am going to go with that. Salmon - free Eggs - $1.97 a dozen Loaf bread - $1.32 Frozen vegetables 88 cents Rice- 88 cents Canned chicken - $1.34 Pinto beans - $1.24 1 banana 24 cents (no longer sold by the pound) 😢 1 Avocado - 88 cents Knorr Bouillon 8 count - $1.08 (I can buy those at another store for 30 cents a box but that takes gas money) Dinner #1 Salmon patties with vegetables To make salmon cakes you would need to combine salmon, egg, bread crumbs and spices. Take the ends of the bread and toast them in the oven and then grind them up for the breadcrumbs. Form patties and fry them up. Serve with some mixed vegetables on the side. Dinner #2 Beans and Rice Dinner #3 Vegetable fried rice Lunch #1 chicken vegetable soup Lunch #2 Leftovers Lunch #3 Egg salad sandwich Breakfast #1 Avocado Toast Breakfast #2 fried egg sandwich Breakfast #3 cinnamon toast with 1/2 banana I have been doing food salvage with a group of friends that volunteer at food banks and food pantries. The food banks and food pantries get things nobody wants so it would otherwise get thrown away. Right now, it is salad kits, shredded cheddar cheese and big pork loins. So I have been trying to find ways to use it all before it goes bad. The big pork loins have to be defrosted and cut into parts like sliced into chops and roasts.

You are very creative and I like your idea of buying eggs, since they are a cheap, wonderful source of protein and I love salmon cakes. Even though rice is cheap and filling, I can't eat it because it is too many carbohydrates; same with the banana. But, I think your plan is very doable and varied. If you knew someone with a band saw, you could have them cut the pork loins while frozen. Or, if you could get a pressure canner and some jars, you could can the pork (but that is another whole thing).

You have some good ideas, I decided to see what are the prices are where I live are, and what I could do different as my daughter is allergic to peanut butter. Also when looking online lots of basic foods out of stock. Not a perfect list, but what I found- Dollar Tree- 2 lb rice $1.25 loaf of bread$1.25 Dollar General - margarine $1.50 12oz pasta $1.00 Walmart 2 lbs flour $1.22 1 lb frozen peas $1.18 12oz frozen mixed veggies $1.18 2 boxes mac and cheese $1.06 total $9.64 For me Dollar Tree and Walmart are a 5 minute drive away and Dollar General is 10 minutes away, not everyone lives that close. Also going in person you can sometimes find marked down items. One item that I keep in my pantry is true lemon, works well to add into different foods and iced tea. Hope you do more of these budget videos

JO, allergies and stock issues add complexity in, and you came up with some useful alternatives. It's nice you live close to some reliable stores in case one or the other doesn't have something in stock!

I would buy eggs, peanut butter, bread, peas, potatoes, bananas and boxed mac and cheese. Breakfast would be an egg and a fried potato, lunch peanut butter with banana sandwich and dinner would be salmon patties made with mashed potatoes, with a side of peas and mac and cheese. A local store in my area has 5 lbs of potatoes for $1.99 this week and sandwich bread for 99 cents a loaf. Thanks for video.

I am following your lead on much of this. Instead of rice, I opted for spaghetti. No peas for me. I would get fresh carrots. I would get a bell pepper, a can of cannellini beans, green onions. I would make an Italian style salmon pasta dish with the part of the veggies and 1/3 of the salmon and 1/3 of the beans. I would make peanut butter and banana toast for breakfast. I would make an Asian style pasta with 1/3 of the salmon and veggies. I would mix up a peanut butter sauce. To top the Asian style pasta and top it with fresh green onions. I would make a hummus like dip with the remaining cannellini beans. I would serve it on toast with grated carrots and chopped green onions and a little chopped tomato and chopped bell pepper. I would sautee some green onions, grated carrot, bell pepper and dice up the red potato and fry it up with the remaining salmon. Using the WalMart app I found this would be 9.97.

$10 in UK is £7.95. So, I looked online at Sainsburys and totted up your list of food and it came to £4.47. Admitedly, I looked for the cheapest. I can pop over to Lidl and buy some unsweetened soya milk for 50p, pop back over to Sainsburys and grab some teabags for a nice cuppa, £1.10) and have a think what else to buy. I'd swap the salmon for tofu 'cos I'm vegan. Maybe, some onions, 80p ( they're on offer atm), mushrooms, 70g for 21p and potatoes 67p for 4 big ones.... I'd probably swap the peas for a bag of frozen mixed veg and spend the extra 36p on more mushrooms. This is fun. Curries, stir fried rice, soup, scrambled tofu, porridge using the rice...

a bag of potatoes, an onion, a bag of frozen mixed vegetables, a loaf of bread, a small jar of peanut butter, a few bananas or another fruit on sale-whichever is the cheapest. peanut butter sandwiches for breakfast. Lunch and supper would be pretty much the same. Salmon fish cakes. Boil your potatoes, drain and mash dry. Sautee chopped onions in oil or butter, season to taste. Let cool slightly and add to the potatoes. Open your can salmon, put the juices aside. Put the salmon in a bowl and mash with a fork and add to your potatoes. Stir to mix and season to taste with herbs and spices. Add some of the juices as needed so it's not too dry. form into patties, and pan fry in non-stick spray, a little oil or butter. If you have a little flour, dredge the outside so it gets crispy. I'd serve that with the mixed vegetables. It's so good. Freezes extremely well and can be reheated easily. We usually pan-fry when we reheat from frozen.

the fishcake recipe works with any fish you like. Fresh, frozen or canned. If fresh or frozen, just cook first. If using smoked fish, remember that a little goes a long way with the taste, so you may want to mix it with a blander, white fish to help keep that from being overpowering.

One thing I have come to love is salmon with scrambled eggs and grits. So I would need a carton of eggs, container of grits, bread to make salmon sandwiches and and a box of suddenly salad pasta and mix salmon into that. I think that’s about under 10.

Yay! I love these types of videos. I always get inspiration from them. We take note of what you say and go buy extras of the nonperishables in your videos to place in the “blessing boxes” in our town. I would probably make the salmon into a curry and serve over rice. I would also take some of the rice and the coconut milk I used for the curry to make a rice porridge for breakfasts. Lunches would probably be tomato soup and toast.

I love canned salmon, I eat it all the time. Your recipe sounds good. I'll gave to try it. I like itvwith pasta, peas, and cream of mushroom soup. It's also good in scrambled eggs. Salmon loaf is really good too. So I'd buy eggs, bread, pasta, peas, cream soup

I just had salmon and I won't be able to have it ever again. I threw up. It came out as fast as it went in. Never experienced anything like that in my life. I'm grateful it came out fast. 🥰. Thank God I had a pan near by. It was a bumble bee pouch. I think I will barf at the smell if I open a can.

It is a shame your list doesn't include mayo. It makes a lot of meals go further with added flavor. You may have to increase the amount to $20 with inflation to get the $10 worth of food.
