Nah cuz Smackdown is watched less, well at that point it was, and it needs the top stars to get more weekly viewers, RAW will always have more viewers, and it being classed as the ‘A’ show, younger wrestling stars on RAW get eyes on RAW and making them look like stars. In the end, both brands are different, but both have top level viewing
I want them to use a spectrum formula. Make RAW live up to its name & be just a pure wrestling show with no overproducing. Have there be backstage panels for interviews like NJPW, make it more sports-oriented. SmackDown can be their Entertainment brand. They focus a ton on character work & storylines. While NXT is the perfect blend of the 2, make it the A-show & the pinnacle of what a wrestling show should be.
When I was a child, as a german, I've always thought that Raw was the place where things moved forward, where wrestling happened and SmackDown was the "showcase travelling circus" where nothing really happens, but it has all the classic big household names. Back in the day, in germany, we only got SmackDown in free TV as far as I can remember, so to see Raw, you had to pay, so it obviously had to be the superior show, and Smackdown, that was given away for free, had to be the advertisement.
I usually agree with you adam but here is my 5 cents worth cos im also a smartass Ill look at titles as that is basically show structure which really is all that matters at this stage 4 on each show cos they can afford to if done right (NO FLOATING!!) Raw // WWE Title (dean, feuds with step and lets face it HHH is 90% sure to be GM so they will make his life hell) US title (KO feuds with all the rising nxt talent as adam mentioned) Tag team titles (enzo and Cass) cause they are awesome and deserving and ill get to new day later, Womens Title (sasha) doesnt float all women are on Raw (explained further) Smackdown // World Heavy weight (cena) gets his 16th and carries on feud with Aj and make it actually mean something, Crusierweight (winner of CWC) most likely brian kendrick straight away the contrast in styles from heavy to cruiser weight creates a diverse show, IC title for those in between (keep miz for know) feud with ryder, de rio, sheamus etc (mid-carders), and finally 6 man tag belt (wyatts to hold to start with) continue feud with new day get a decent story line PLEASE!!!, brings the club and social outcasts into the fold and those other 3 man teams that WWE likes to form and takes the numbers game interference bullshit out of the tag titles cos that crap getting old. With the extra men on smackdown in the 6 man division it creates space for the entire womens roster to be on raw and maybe even 2 matches a show. WILDCARD!!!!! Hardcore title, this can be held by any superstar on any show raw, smackdown, nxt and as per hardcore rules is defended 24/7 allowing surprise appearances by superstars on other shows to try take the title back to there own show and is not defended on PPV. Perhaps also a rule that you have to be from another show to actually contest the belt so it doesnt just move around one show. NO STORYLINE purely to create some mystery and excitement into the shows ! Keen to see other peoples thoughts.... do reply!!!
I remember when they first did the draft. I was not a fan. I don't want to be required to watch two shows to know what's going on in WWE. Fact is after a few years of the brand split, people started complaining that they hated it and blah blah blah why can't it just end. Eventually, the brand split did end in 2011, people were happy. Before long, cries of a "WAAAAAAAA WE WANT THE BRAND SPLIT BACK WAAAAAAAA!" were heard. Now they're doing it again, and within a year, the same smarks calling for the brand split will be saying "WAAAAAAA THEY AREN'T DOING IT RIGHT!!!!! THEY NEED TO END THE BRAND SPLIT!!!! WAAAAAAAAA!" This will be followed by the smarks complaining about both shows, saying how much they hate John Cena and Roman Reigns, ruining live events, and hoping C.M Punk comes back.
On contrary, in my opinion, the Tag Team must be split into two separate belt again, because i think it can create more opportunity to the upcoming young star and also several team who up until now haven't taste the gold yet... as for the Divas title, yeah i agree with u man... if only, again if only, there are quite bunch of women superstar in that locker room (in terms of quantity) i'm sure the Divas / women belt can be separated into two again just like in 2007-2008...
Adam you're a great booker I've been watching since early 2015 and I have to say wwe ratings will sky rocket if Vince listens to you and you're head booker
doesn't make sense to move all the current vets like Cena, Orton, Y2J etc to be mixed in with the all the old former wwe guys on SMACKDOWN.. Both brands should have a bit of a mix between old guys and new up in comers like Ownens or Zane. That will always be a good combo to mix old and new guys to not only build the brand but new stars.
I think splitting the shows up by veteran/new gen is too simple. It would be better to split it by "sports" on smackdown and "entertainment" on raw. You put guys like Cesaro, Rusev, Del Rio, American Alpha, Nakamura/Itami, Kurt Angle, Benjamin, Ziggler, etc on SD, and then you put the legends and stuff on RAW where they can carry the three hours with better promos and more wild brawling style action. which brings me to another point: _leave the cruiserweights alone._ Keep the CWC (hell, make the winner the new champ and put the CW division on NXT) and instead have the Women's title on Smackdown (to build up the focus on legitimacy over boobs), and bring back the hardcore championship on Raw. That way you can make better use of the older guys doing light plunder affairs instead of 10 minute matches we already saw 10-15 years ago.
A year after the brand split and... I think... WWE finally did something better. Adam (Plumpy), your booking was great, but I think that they did a good job.
well, i thought exactly the same, but i was opposite with brands......i was going smackdown for the youngsters and quality wrestling (ie. the new smackdown six) and raw for cena, star power and so on. Adam's way would actually legitamise not just the wrestlers but both shows as well. very clever. either way the cruiserweight division must be done. A la WCW without the glass ceiling for wrestlers. The crusierweights in WCW were the best part of the show and Bischoff knew that, just push the belt better. Push it like the middleweights in boxing, describe the crusierweight champion as the best "pound for pound wrestler" in the world etc. Should have done that with gregory helms when he fought undertaker rather than a squash match which killed helms' 365 day reign instantly. Only difficult bit would be booking the tag belts over 2 shows. Cant have two tag belts, obviously, but would have to be booked well for it to work Looking forward to Reigns and Lesnar's role in this. Top work as always. Maybe Jack could do "How i would book WCPW" just for shits and lolz
they should make the wwe world heavyweight champ on raw and a new design for the undisputed champion. i know that doesnt make sense but it just crossed my mind.
Smackdown has always been the better two imo. That being said, I feel as though all these new guys should be heading towards smackdown, while raw keeps the big names
NO!!!!! No split titles! We'll just wind up with the same shit as last time! Do I need to remind you of the following mid card champs? The Miz, Mark Henry, The Great Khali, Matt Hardy, Chavo Guerrero, Jack Swagger, all mid carders who didn't deserve a World title.
The last time they did this Smackdown became such a good show that people weren't bothering with RAW and Vince got all childish and pissed and ruined it.
The one thing I don't agree with was how you WERE going to suggest Shane on Raw instead of the other way around. He didn't defeat the Undertaker, so that would be a huge middle finger to Mania.
Also, Shane is Vince's son. And we seen them break promises or do stuff they say they wouldn't so it really doesn't matter. Not to mention, if it's best for business, who cares if Shane does it the other way around? Also, it's scripted, meaning it's planned, and sometimes even the planned stuff changes.
+LegitimateObject you can look up "Shane McMahon returns to WWE: February 22, 2016" skip to about the five minute mark and here Vince say "have" one match
So make Raw 3 hours of exciting 5 star matches and make smackdown a big version of TNA? Old stars who have had storylines together thousands of times? What is must see about a Orton-Cena feud for the 30th time? And a near 50yr old Kurt angle against Kevin Nash? Main event Mafia? That's a terrible terrible idea, I'm going to watch raw every week I'm not watching Tajiri vs John cena
I wonder if someone from wwe ever watched these and ask themselves why they can't think things fully through like this. I'm not saying they're all better but they have ... reasons
Well here we are practically a year later, and quite frankly, I like what they did with SmackDown, but the only problem is, they fail to maintain consecutive entertaining shows. Before the Superstar Shakeup, SmackDown Live was THE show to watch, but RAW was just impossible to watch. After the Shakeup, RAW has been improving with a ton of edge with GBOF being a very bloody PPV, this past RAW being very intense with the promos and a couple of swears dropped, & the possibility of an affair storyline being revealed next week. I'm definitely beginning to get an Attitude Era & Ruthless Agression vibe to RAW lately, but meanwhile SmackDown is just depleting and beginning to resemble the way it was before the brand split with almost no heel bookings, babyfaces going over, and constant random tag matches week in and week out. What next, is Daniel Bryan is gonna come out and tell a heel he's "gonna go 1-on-1 with da Phenomenal One" for the Main Event? Also it doesn't help that the head booker is currently Road Dogg, considering he stood with Orton in his "dive..." controversy. The point is they're not really living up to the competition. The only real competitive shows (IMO) were the week Owens won the UV title and maybe the first few weeks after WrestleMania. WWE really has to step up their game. I love the idea of a Civil War within the company for Bragging Rights, since there isn't any threat to them at this team irl, but they really never even bring up the competition until Survivor Series. They need to treat this the way Adam (currently known as Plumpy) addressed in this video, do NOT advertise the rival brand's PPV. Make the shows diverse, give them their own flavor that appeals to a different audience. They obviously did the opposite of what Plumpy had in mind and turned RAW into the casual show and SD into the hardcore show. I believe they should focus a bit more with the storytelling on RAW and throw that edge in there, while focusing on the fan anticipated wrestling on SD. Of course don't focus ONLY on those, of course give RAW some marquee matches and give SD some good storylines as well, but I'm pointing out key points. Don't focus on just Casuals, because the loyal fans won't watch the show. Also change up those goddamn stages, they're practically the same style just different models. We're trying to make them feel like different shows here! In conclusion, as Plumpy said, they need to take this seriously and maybe make trades, utilize each star to their best potential, and when the Draft comes around make the Commisioners struggle to reach those top stars! Hell, if they need examples, look no further than GM Mode from THQ's SvR 2007 & 2008! I honestly hope Vince will look at these ideas and consider them! TL;DR: My Booking - SmackDown = Wrestling RAW = Entertainment With a bit of diversity to set the brands apart and make it feel like real competition!
I have a feeling (as im sure many others do) That this is the reason for the split, it will help alleviate all of the injuries people are getting, I mean they had what was it 5-6 of their "top talent" out for months on end, I think with a lighter in ring schedule it would allow for more healing, now with that said Im sure they will use the out of ring time for other things like promotions, appearances, etc...
I dig both the tag team titles which they had at 2002 and retired in order to make the penny title belts the official tag team titles of the entire WWE
+Sexual Chocolate he's probably going to flip raw and smackdown as he thought Shane would be running raw with his fresh new era and Stephanie would be running smackdown but since that isn't the case it will most likely be flipped or at least I hope so and plus just about every casual fan knows what smackdown is due to all the advertisement for the brand split
Nope, it's a smart idea. "Smarks" are watching both shows, no matter what. "Marks", or "Casual Fans", however you wanna call them, used to watch Raw. Now the show they prefer will become Smackdown. So, if it works out, they keep watching Raw and start watching SD regularly.
Idea for Roman Reigns: Like the Rock, who technically was the inventor of Smackdown (the word at least) and called Smackdown his show, Reigns gets his own show. Reigns show will be called "I know a guy". In his show, he sits in the ring and consumes different kind of drugs, steroids etc. Sometimes he shows clips of him buying those drugs. On occasion, fellow wrestler like RVD, Adam Rose and Jeff Hardy join him for a drug-competition match.
Right off the bat, Adam's idea doesn't work. Shane has been given Smackdown. Shane is the one who pushed the whole "New Era" thing. To have him pick old timers and established guys is just stupid.
This kind of screws over the raw gets younger new talent and smackdown gets big name veterans thing you have going Shane has more of a New Era kind of vibe. I mean he basically started the New Era this would entail that he gets younger superstars Stephanie represents older big name veterans note she didn't like the idea of the new era case in point Shane canceled the Highlight Reel to give Ambrose an opportunity Stephanie then canceled the Ambrose Asylum to bring back the Highlight Reel
Robbie Zurcher Well this was recorded before it was announced that Shane was heading SmackDown. Adam said he would have Shane running RAW, so it makes sense that he was drafting the younger talent there.
Trust me it's not. Unless u are a fan of indies and are ready to go through a pile of garbage with repeated matches every week with no story whatsoever and be ready to see superstars with no character being pushed to the moon
Just imagine Stephanie is about to announce who she picked as GM for raw. There's a huge drumroll going on -because Stephanie demands it sticking with her annoying bitch persona- and the drumroll just stops and you hear "IM BACK... AND BETTER THAN EVER"
First there new, what storys can they really tell atm? Second the ending of the match was part of the story, it brought on great heel hate for those people. I mean people were shitting on them for not telling a story on their first episode when they had barly shown who was the face and hells. They are building this stuff up. But by all means if you think you can do better do let us all know how it goes.
When using WWE characters and storylines you have the benefit of working with characters that have long histories and established personalities. With a brand new company you don't have that, so the first few weeks of WCPW have been focused on establishing those characters in the first place. Yes there are a lot of messy finishes, but that is so you can establish face/heels and issues quickly. You can't just have a guy come on stage and shout "I'm a bad guy!" into a microphone, you have to SHOW them doing bad things. And with the limited scope of the show right now the easiest way to establish that is by having them mess with the endings of people's matches. You can't judge these two series with the same lens because they are literally trying to accomplish different things.
+BS2799 the shield reuniting would be one of the best things for the company at this point. If they return as a heel faction it's just great. The club turns face after their feud with Cena, the shield comes in and demolishes them out of nowhere as a sort of "We're back" statement. They talk about it the following week, yadayadayada the club and the shield feud. The shield ultimately wins and someone leaves the club and the shield become the dominant force in wwe again. They win the tag team titles still as heels and when they lose it (hopefully to Enzo and Cass) they turn face. They become the hounds of justice again and over the next year couple years after their face turn they go back and forth from face to heel and they end with one of them becoming wwe world heavyweight champion and the others getting mad and going their own ways again. Everyone wants it, whether it's heel or face it's a plus for the company. And at this point, it's the best thing for all their careers.
One thing I absolutely agree on, and feel that must be done with the Brand Split: If there must be individual PPV's for each brand, at least have both compete on the Big 4 of Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam and Survivor Series (and also, if they bring it back, Bragging Rights)
how wwe should have book: -The league of nations -The Miz Wwe Championship run -Damien Sandow mitb 2012 -Cesaro after WM 30 -The american badass debut -The debut of Breezeango... :\
Also how WWE should've book Taker going back to his Deadman persona. I actually would have had him win his first buried alive match, and from there things would have happened.
