That 2019 team with Jeremiah Hunter (Cal transfer to UW) and Xavier were so fun to watch. Two years prior Central produced Jaylon Johnson (Bears CB). Love seeing those I went to school with succeed
Honestly if he had stayed at Texas for another season he might have been the #1 WR in 2025 for the draft. We didn't take deep shots as often as the other 4 playoff teams and give Ewers another year and I think Worthy has a stat line like Odunze or Marvin Harrison Jr, but we will never know- and given his speed, he could turn into Tyreek Hill if his hands improve as an NFL rookie- he's got the speed and acceleration to do it. There was a screen play he got in the Big 12 title game, and in most cases I would expect a slower WR to take it, maybe get 5-10 yards before getting shoved out. He took it, tightroped the sideline, cut inside, and pulled off a 50 yard gain seemingly going around the defense in a semi-circle to do it. It was ridiculously freaky shit. He would have had a touchdown if not tripped up in desperation by an Oklahoma State secondary player. He's going to give opposing defenses NIGHTMARES in the NFL.
Drops more passes than I would like but underrated overall. Didn't get as many deep throws from his coaching staff as some of the higher rated WRs. I think he would be an excellent deep threat in the NFL if the drops improve.
In the early and mid 2000s he would have been a top pick because of his additional kick and punt return ability. I really wish they would make kickoffs relevant again in the NFL
Drops are the only hole in his game, if any. He did get better in the second half of his junior year. Would do well in the late first round with a staff with good development at the WR position.
dude been a dawg, loved watching him play and what he’s done at texas. wondered why he wasn’t higher on peoples lists/board even tho the WR class this year is DEEP he still a dawg fr.
