It's interesting to watch how structured this process is versus how Su Ke, the key-artist of Valorant, just jumps right into a painting on a single layer the whole time.
He definitely uses layers. He uses different layer modes throughout the process. I've recognized some. Like @dinnerboons1504 said he has well over 100 layers.
Great Video. I didn't get it all, most of it for me was shapes with hue variation, but a clear hue variation! like cell shading I guess! Is that right!? I got the thing about the design of the character/drawing that has to be a real good thing with shapes too!
Nuh uh, I’m not an artist at riot or anything but maybe try looking into an art style called “painterly” style which is pretty traditional and kinda resonates with the valorant art style. Ofc it won’t be completely accurate but it’s smthng ig 😅 maybe make the colouring less ‘looser’ and more patchy/sharper to get that graphic look. Hope this helps
Actually i think it looks amazing. I think He did a simple short version of it and gave a general idea on how to approach it. Im sure if he wanted to put a lot more time into it you wouldn’t know if it was done by him or riot 😊
