Welcome to Fridays with Tab and Chance! We had our plane stopped so a fan and supporter of ours could ask this question: How do you feel being empty nesters? Our daughter moved out recently and though we are not empty nesters completely yet, we are going to share how we feel about our daughter moving out of the state. Lets get into it!

That’s the saying a old aunt use to say all the time. “When they are babies, they dance on your lap, and when they are older they dance on your heart”. As a mother to one child. A 26 year old daughter, those words was never so true.

Parenting is not for the weak!! I have 3! One is getting married on Sunday, the next one is moving to Massachusetts for a job opportunity, and the Baby will be heading off to college next year! It’s stressful, but we just have to trust we’ve done what we needed to while they were growing up! But, Tab, I feel the same daggone way!😂

My dad passed in 2020. He used to say if God took him today he would be happy knowing that his kids are stable and have life skills. I felt that because I’m a parent too. But…the next generation of grands stressed him. He loved his family and was always there for us. His passing was super hard especially for the grandkids. I’m so grateful that we all have good memories.

This is such a great topic! I left home at 18 to come to Calif9rnia to attend college and I never moved back home. This was before cell phones too. My mother wrote me letters and we talked over the phone.y father told me that my mother cried so much when I left..but I am a 2nd child and my two sisters stayed home. My oldest and youngest sister continued to live with my parents until my older sister married. To this day it was the best decision I made. I was raised in a very secure and wonderful home but it was time for me to discover my own life and even though both of my parents are dead..I know they are proud of me and glad I am living my own life.

I felt this on so many levels! I don’t have babies but my brother became mine when our mommy was murdered in 2019. I live with anxiety sometimes because he’s in Florida and I’m in Georgia. But I pray daily for his safety and his ability to make good decisions. I trust in God always. But I’m human. Kudos to all the parents living through this empty nesting syndrome. ❤

my son is starting college in a few days luckily his school is only 20 minutes away so there was no need to live on campus ..but he's already talking about he's interested in doing a year in another country . The way my heart was beating so fast bcuz iam a single mom and he's my only child and the longest we have ever been a part is two weeks but I wouldn't stop him from pursuing his goal either . It sucks bcuz one moment we can't wait for them to grow up yet we don't want them to grow up 😂😂

As long as she keeps God in her heart she will be all right. As an older person I look back at my life and regret not doing so many things out of fear. I admire those who step out. There is so much to explore and see and it really does open your mind to reality seeing how others live and operate. It’s better to do it young than wait till 40’s and a breakup to try and find yourself. Prayers for you and your granddaughter.

I get it! When my daughter, my only child, moved to another state. I drove her car down, while she drove with her boyfriend. I had to see where she was laying her head at night. 2 weeks later, I was in a supermarket parking lot and broke down hysterically crying to the point of not being able to breathe. My ex husband happened to call, I kept saying I have to see her, I have to see her. He came to the supermarket with his iPhone so I could face time her. Listen, that pain is real!

I lost my mother soon to be two years ago, and my youngest daughter moving out a year ago felt and feels so similar. Chance I did indeed convert her room to a tv lounge within a week, because it was more than a notion to see that empty room. I’ll say this, the LORD has surely heard my cries and wiped my tears. Wonderful episode! Appreciate the heartfelt discussion. Reminded me of the following poem: “Your children are not your children. They are sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you. And though they are with you yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth....." - Khalil Gibran

I went through 4 moving out! But I wasn’t prepared for my 22 year old granddaughter ( senior at local college) told me she was going to South Korea for 9 months to study!! She flew out Monday the 28 of August!! What helps me is that her mom raised her to be independent, strong and God fearing! I shed a few tears and I’m ok now!! "I was so focused on wanting to live my life my way." Whew! As a girl who lost her momma (someone who had also become my best friend), this hit home. I remember those teenage and early twenty years -- and though it was appropriate from a developmental standpoint -- I still look back and think, "damn, I should have bought those tickets for Frankie Beverly" or "she should have spent the night over more." But I will say, the good times comfort me and outweigh those regrets.

I love y’all so much! I cried so many days in just spurts when my son moved to NY, we’re in Maryland. But just like Chance said, there wasn’t a darn thing in the world that could keep me from him if he needed me! It was funny though, he didn’t necessarily need me there, just access to me to run things by me for guidance. ❤ That meant, he really did listen for all those years and learn the lessons I taught him growing up! To God be the Glory! You got this Tab, you’re going to glow as she starts making her moves as a young adult! We’re praying for you Choyce! You have a village around you that your Momma and Daddy have built to ensure you flourish into the beautiful woman you’re destined to be! I can’t wait to see you spread your wings and fly. ❤🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️

I felt the same way with each of my children, our oldest daughter was 18 when she moved out of state. The only people was sad about her moving, was my twins and I, It was hard at first, but my daughter didn’t want to follow our rules, soooo she had to do what she had to do. This was after high school, and she moved in with her aunt. The next daughter moved to NY, and she’s been there for 8 years I was sad at first, but she has traveled to Israel, South Africa, etc , the 3rd daughter moved to South Korea for 3 years, I literally cried when she left. Our last 2 are home, but eventually they probably will move out. Prayers, and Thank God for protecting us wherever we are!!

Yay Choyce! She's going to do well. I moved from Texas to Oregon at 46 and my mom said THE SAME THING Tab said about getting to Choyce. It's not that she can't, but the TIME frame it takes, especially in an emergency or if I'm sick. I'm at MINIMUM, a 4 hrs plane ride away. BUT God. I'm covered by the blood and so is Choyce. TRUST that the things you taught her and the talks you've had will come to mind as she goes about her life and makes decisions.❤

Was the only one who was HAPPY AS CAN BE when each of my 3 children left home. No tears, no drama. I am STILL happy as a pig in slop. 2 live out of state and far away. Good. One lives 7 minutes from me. Good.

Our daughter now 29 has a hubby , 2 little boys and a home owner.......she was living an hour and a half away from us when we moved to a rural part of the state. We moved in 2021. Less than a year later they moved 25 minutes away in a small town in Indiana. I am very happy she is close. I GET to see her and my grandsons. Might not be like that all the time but I am glad she is still close!!!!!

this was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL with heartfelt moments! fun and REAL! but when Chance, said, "wonder what imma do with Quest' room?" I FELL OUT!!!!! LOLLLLLLL 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 baaaa'BAE it is ALREADY in the making in his mind! Truth be told is children go from pampers to proms in almost a FLASH, so raise them the BEST THAT YOU CAN!! Train them up in the Word of God, give them ALLLLLL of the UNCONDITIONAL LOVE you can! and then clip their wings!! let them experience, "THEIR" God given purpose! keep them covered in prayer and go from there 🤎...THANK GOD she has SUCH a LOVING set of parents and extended fam, to do life with! 🤎🤎🤎🤎🖤

Aww this topic came at the right time. Our 24yr old babygirl moved to her apartment and I cried for a few days alone. I even sent her a photo of us together, maybe so she won't forget me lol I don't know. Smiles on the outside but mixed emotions inside of me. Thank you Tab and Chance.

Chance and Tab sound like my Mom and Dad when I left. I literally moved to the other side of the country and did not come back. But they knew they had prepared me and that I was going to be fine. Now we not gone talk bout how they eventually followed me though and moved 30 minutes from the new city I was living in....🤣🤣🤣

I have just experienced this with my 20 year old son moving to an entirely different state (not even close to me). The enemy attacked me on so many fronts before he left, but when God started to minister to my spirit the worry began to melt away. As Believers, we're clearly told not to worry; however, I know this can be hard. Before my daddy passed, he told me that the way you continue to raise your adult children is by praying for them. You really do get peace that passes all understanding so worry can't last. My Bible study group is about to start back up and we are reading "The Power of Praying for Your Adult Children". I know it's no coincidence that God has us reading this after my son has recently left home. If we've raised our children to be light then we have to be ok with letting them go into a world that needs the light in them. May God be with the parents who have had to let go and with the children that are learning to spread their own wings and fly. I sensed the Holy Spirit tell me "Moms need to learn to let their children go so they can live in God's flow!" Chance I have started updating the nest. Great advice.🦋🦋🦋

It will be 4 years at the end of this month my daughter not only moved out but she moved 5.5 hours away from home. I CRIED myself sick. She is my only daughter & the thought of having to let her go into This world broke me down. She was no longer under our physical protection & the way her father & I had to parent was a major transition I wasn’t ready for. It took me about 2 years to adjust. God has been & remains to be faithful.

Empty nesting is tough...You just have to pray for safety and that they keep in touch😢 I knew someone that had a scheduled date to go see her parents every Wed. And nothing came between her priority to her parents..not because they asked but because She wanted that. Wouldn't that be awesome if many considered it? Someday if its in the proper order...your parents will go first.. make at least 4 days a month...theirs.

My momma would sleep in bed right after work when my older sister left the house...that's her way of dealing with her heartbreak. Idc what anyone says, raising independent daughters is sorrow and our holidays won't ever really be the same...I mourn now even though we are all living our own lives. ❤

She will be fine. When I moved out of my mother's house. The first day in my own place. I left my keys hanging in the door handle. My next door neighbor knocked on my door to let me know. I was scared to death. I'm like who is knocking on my door. Nobody knows me here. I later laughed about it. But I will keep her in my prayers to be safe. She is very smart.

❤You are so right! My kids are 21 and 22 and I tell these young moms who complain about their toddlers and grade school-age kids that you don't know stress until you get a call after midnight from a twenty-one-year-old who's moved out of the house. 😮

Just imagine being from New Orleans, and your only daughter gets a full scholarship to St John's Law school in Queens, New York. We went to visit the campus, and it was beautiful. The staff there may me feel extremely comfortable. However, she's still my ONLY CHILD. I was losing it. Of course, I let her go soar like the eagle she is. Baby, I CRIED ON THAT CURB AT THE AIRPORT when I had to leave her. Chile, I cried so much security came to see if I was OK. Then, the pandemic happened. That's a whole new story. I know this feeling, y'all. The hardest thing now 4 years later is her checking in. I need to know you're ok. I need to see your face to know you LOOK OK!!! If only I can get her to understand this.

Tab, THIS AIN’T NOTHING!!! As a Mom of a daughter and son, when that boy leaves….JESUS!!! I love them both equally, but that Mother/Son bond is a lot. You’ve fully equipped them both with right, wrong, and SURVIVAL skills. As many Auntie’s and Uncles that Choyce has around the world…SHE GOOD!!!❤❤❤ Chase Chance around the house!!! AND …when they call there’s something in their voice that says Ma, I NEED YOU, and once you hear that peace in their voice, you’re OK!!! SN ..parenting starts at 18
