A person who survived Nazino Island: ” I had to kill others and eat their frozen bodies to survive. I have seen unimaginable horrors and how people turn into animals” Simple history: ” Now that’s what I call a Victory Royale 😎😎”
"Battle royal (plural battles royal) traditionally refers to a match involving three or more fighters until only one remains standing. Recently, this term has generally been used to refer to any match involving a large number of people." it's a tragedy but it's still in the concept of the word
On challenges 3 i have a idea which will not work but crazy is:get as many clothes as much as you can from the dead and wear them. They may be heavy but it will be like layers and keep as much heat in you
After studying Russian history, one quote stuck with me; "In Russia, even the rocks are guilty." That land has been home to unparalleled suffering and cruelty on a scale that defies comprehension.
@@thunderbird1921 All of these stories are based on a common feature of the fact that the Russians are slaves to livestock. And slave cattle breeds dictators. The nation is divided into peoples, from Mordovians to Buryats. They were all conquered by Moscow, and Stalin called all this cattle as - the Russians. For example, my ancestors are from Poland, and I was born in Arkhangelsk, this is the Pomor region, and the Pomors were massacred and captured from Moscow, then it was called Muscovy. And obeyed the horde. The Soviets rewrote a huge chunk of history. In order to whiten your face. But you can see the true face in Russians as a whole.
There was a story about three men who escaped a camp in Russia, crossed in Mongolia, China and into India. There was a book and a film about it. Would Simple History put it in as a possible idea, some time?
Russia did have elected leaders during the time of Kievan-Rus and Novgorod republic, Cossack hosts as well as the Russian republic before communist occupation. By the way the ussr isn't only Russia and is a different country. Russians and Soviets are completely different in that Russians are religious, Soviets are not, Russians have culture and spiritual beliefs, Soviets are nihilistic. If you look at a map of the ussr and look at history that isn't cold war propaganda. The ussr is 15 republics
@@Rebelknightlegacy06 um... Soviet = worker's councils. The United Soviet Socialist Republics were a federation of the 15 republics that were governed by their own Soviet. So yeah, Russians were Soviet citizens. It's got nothing to do with nihilism or religion, lol.
@@DieNibelungenliad they're still under a dictator lol putin just made himself president for another 4 years. the "democracy" they have is just word to them a joke.
@@driv6138 Yea, they have been told by the so called professors that it was not real communism. They also leave out the bit where 20 million died mostly of starvation in Russia alone or the gulags. In China it was close to 100 million thanks to Mao's great leap forward.
@@minedoimperija The numbers for these events are always exaggerated and fluctuates depending on agenda, but the point still remains that a dictatorial regime had killed a significant number of innocent men, women, and children.
I'd take my chances with the escape, it's not like my odds have dropped. I was already starved, afflicted by the weather, and stranded. The only thing that really has changed is that the things trying to kill me on the island, can climb trees where the animals you have to really worry about can't for good reason.
@@marijnverheggen6611 Survival Tip: If you have to cross water in cold weather, take off your clothes. They will not keep you warm in the water, they will weigh you down, and you will need them after you get out. In this situation keep them dry by using the human fat method on other clothes covering your clothes, once across discard the fat riddled clothes and keep your now semi dry ones. Get the water on your skin off immediately by exercising and rolling in snow. Then put on your original clothes to start conserving heat.
Stalin, Trotsky, Mao, hitler. These people should never be worshipped! I will never understand why people look up to these bloody dictators and school shooters!
@@richmondlandersenfells2238 some groups always benefit from dictators, either because they were close to the dictator or were bribed (like in my country)
As an equator-dwelling person, I cannot comprehend how people can survive in such temperatures, even 25 degrees here is considered cold, and 30 degrees Celcius is the norm
I like to go outside for walks in - 10 to -20 degrees, I find the cold air refreshing. -20 to -30 starts to become a bit cold but still okay if right clothing is used (good winter clothing recommended). Unfortunately, -30 to - 40 is not common around where I live so I have nothing really to say about that.
It may also be smart to dig a hole to avoid the cold. Huskies will dig in the snow to shield themselves from the cold winds . At the start I would dig a hole away from others or with a set of people i can trust. If the hole is big enough to where we could start a fire in there it could maybe function as a worming room. thats a start
There is a solution I thought of: Convince some of the people to begin an escape attempt prior to landing on the island, explaining that, once you land and the guards leave the area, you build a means of escape and take some resources with you. Then, leave the island and find the closest civilization. As an extra note: Attempt to lead an attack on the guards using guerrilla tactics and makeshift weapons. Then steal their weapons and uniforms.
I do like how you're asking people to find a way to escape since there is still plenty of resources once you first get on the Island but the extreme water currents around the island will probably flip the rafts over and even if you were to escape you also also have to deal with other prey trying to kill you and the only animals you can hunt are pretty fast and you will also have to walk miles and miles since there are no real civilizations nearby but I also like the part about the guerrilla warfare to kill the guards and take their weapons and clothes so that you have a better chance to survive
@@TabbyEgg312 Yeah and if you don't have knives you can just trade gold teeth or other things that are valueble like it showed in the video to get a knife or if their are multiple guards you can just overrun them with other 'setlers' with sharpened sticks and other weapons

This is amazing. A POV helps to the experience like you're in the island itself. But despite the survival tips. It's very very very unlikely for you to survive. If math was involved anyway, it's 1 in 1,000,000 chance you would survive anyway

At least Nazino was short lived. If you were a unwanted ethnic group like a Lithuanian or Estonian, you could find yourself spending years in Siberia for just existing
Just imagine the conversations they had... Talking about why they were send there And eating someone who just a week earlier had told you of their family back home I really don’t want to know how their relations were through this thing
Dictator sends prisoners farway to colonise land. Thats not ideological. We had that happen in Canada under the French King and his kingdom's economy was capitalism
Surely talk about Charles upham! A New Zealand infantryman who was the only *soldier* to be awarded two vc’s (the other two were doctors). The new vanguard character lucas Riggs is based on him however is represented as an Aussie (which if you didn’t know is a big fat middle finger to New Zealanders…). Would be cool if you could show all your viewers the real lucas Riggs and not sully their image of a New Zealand war hero.
Nah, the gladiator tournaments were more closer to the Squid Game: people fighting over money to entertain the rich guys (the show's VIPs) and the commoners (us, the spectators). Panem et circenses.
There were death matches for war slaves or some simple matches where a bunch of criminals were sent to death, Mostly against animals whilst a REAL gladiator would be extremly expensive to lose and could count as poor sportsmanship to the other side. That is also why Gladiators were kept well fed and somewhat thick around their gut and chest so if needed they could take a stab or a slash
Can't wait for the next video where Simple History compares 9/11 to Fall Guys. What a complete disrespect to the people that actually suffered through this event.
Ok guys so update. This group of guys have invited me for dinner. However when I asked what they were serving they said it was a surprise. For some odd reason they also said it's good enough to *die* for. I kinda don't want to but I don't want to be rude. Should I go ?

The fact that communists are using Squid Game as the final representation of the capitalism will always make me sick after watching that the REAL Squid Game was actually a communist idea.
Capitalism has it's worst aspects. You don't need a TV show to see that, consumption of unnecessary goods and yet suffering for the Rich. Give me Denmark's Socialism or my own over that.

Communism is nothing but a cruel lie. It promises workers the world and the poor prosperity, yet instead it becomes a dictatorship and ogliarchy every time (and those in power let their biases decide who gets the redistributed resources). This is not including the vast human rights violations.

Simple History is extremely American-centric and West-centric. A lot of their videos always highlight anything from the West as badass and great, but usually anything covering the East or any place from the global south (if he even bothers with the global south) is usually something about their attacks against colonial western powers. Simple History is simply biased.
So how was there mosquitos if it was winter like portrayed in the video? A tad bit confusing. I'm from Michigan, and our mosquitos all die out around the beginning of winter, so I don't see how a place as cold as Russia, ( presumably colder than Michigan ), has mosquitos in the winter. Tho I suppose just cause its snowing doesn't mean winter in Russia, even tho in the video they show a lot of snow, and a guys fingers dying from the cold via frostbite, making it seem pretty cold... like freezing cold. Kinda confusing.
Its genuinely depressing how so many people spent their entire lives suffering like this. My life isnt the best but man Im so grateful I never had to experience anything like this
Dear Simple History, many people in the comment section are very unhappy (including myself) with how you named this video, I personally find this to be very disrespectful to the people who had to suffer through this horrible fate 90 years ago, and we would like you to stop, out of pure respect, if anything.
Is a human running this account cause this is kinda fucked up that you're comparing this factual event that MANY lost their lives to a fictional series like borderline gross... what's next are you gunna compare the 90s LA riots to squid game adding special classes of roof koreans, or better yet why not squid game the slaves ships that sailed from Africa to the US or even the trail of tears why not right it's just a mass loss of human life in the most horrific ways imaginable... yall fucked up...
This is nothing like squid games this is real happened to real people its pretty disrespectful to all the people who died to be comparing them to squid games
They can't. I live in Michigan, our winters aren't as cold as Russia's, but I can confirm that mosquitos here die out before the snow gets to heavy. No way they should have to deal with mosquitos in a Russian winter, and they said the event on the island only lasted around a month so... _ _ \ __ °~° __/
