I took some (objectively) garbage to the dump recently & STILL get pangs of regret. Because they represented moments in my life, of surprise & delight in serendipitous finds (however trivial). It's a battle to think every new thing I find the strength to discard will have the same blowback, a perpetual and accumulating payload of regret.

Thank you, Mia, great video 🧡 Many of those thinking mistakes happen to me as well, even though I have been on my minimalist-ish journey for years. In terms of emotional decision making, a big one for me is 'but if I declutter/sell this thing, no one will love it as I do, I may not use it that often, but at least it's appreciated, I connect stories with it, anybody else will value it less than I do' and then it feels like betrayal 😅 I guess, I feel quite a lot of personal attachment to my things, it's hardly ever just 'stuff' for me. Mostly, it serves me well, adds appreciation, joy and gratitude to my life. But there are also unwanted side effects when I'm trying to go through a good declutter. I guess, it's like a little death.

Thanks for another great video 🤍. I really had to laugh when you mentioned throwing out things that just a bit later you could use again. I must say that happened to me almost every time that I decided to get rid of a part of my hobby supplies. As soon as I gave or threw items out because I just didn’t do anything with that hobby anymore suddenly a few days later someone came up with a new idea how to use that material for an other hobby 😂 and I would regret getting rid of it. But to be honest I never started doing this new hobby either so I’m glad I did get rid of the materials. It never scared me to throw things out anyway even when I gave away a fairytale book that I still regret getting rid of. I still regret it, but do I really miss it….no.

I appreciate how much time and research you put into your videos. Your explanations are simple and relatable. Had to laugh at “shoulding all over yourself” statement🤣too close to something else, but maybe that was intentional😉
