Climate change can be an unsettling subject. Psychologist Katharina van Bronswijk explains why it is good to feel climate anxiety and other climate emotions - and how these can help save the world.
Speaker's note: Ekman's 6 basic emotions are anger, fear, sadness, disgust, joy and surprise. While listing these emotions, she missed surprise. Have you ever felt anxious about our climate? Katharina Van Bronswijk explains why feeling negative emotions about our climate can be beneficial for both the climate and us individuals. With her initiative called Psychologists for Future, she uses her psychological expertise to help people dealing with climate change and to guarantee a sustainable future. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

After having success changing myself (and change still happening) after some pretty overwhelming negative emotions, this made me cry tears of joy. It really does work that way.

Really?! I suppose for some, but isn't this 'climatista' schtick getting worn thin. Were her talk as good as she is pretty.

After a short research or from the video text - Katharina van Bronswijk works for the "Psychotherapist of the Future". They talk about climate psychology in all seriousness. Anyone who feels skepticism or resistance to taking this topic seriously will then get "help" from the climate psychologists? I'm less afraid of climate change than of such anxious fanatics. It sounds like a dangerous religion/cult to me.

i think it is different than you think: people who are unwilling to change (or participate in climate-protection) are like that because (mainly) of 2 things: 1.: fear of change (because they might lose something/money/job) and the loss of controll 2.: climate change feels for many people far away (too abstract to feel invested) so they dont feel the need to change (even though their lifestyle perpetuates climate-change) "Psychotherapists Fot Future" dont see themselfs as therapists for "sick" climate-change deniers, they want to show how to cummunicate a complex problem in a way that everybody understands and feels represented. Katharina van Bronswijk is not a fanatic, she is compassionate about a conversation at eye level, because we can only stop climate-change in cooperation and not by dictation or mandates/sanctions psychology is important when we talk about climate-change, otherwise we do not understand what someone else feels/thinks about the topic i say these things because i watched an additional video from/with her, not only this video

what makes her a fanatic? if you talk to her she is open and willing to listen to you, exactly the opposite of a fanatic

I went on the Website as well and as I understood it, they try to help people with their work in different ways: 1. On climate communication 2. Dealing with mental health deficits/problems because of climate change e.g. through informational material on how to better care for your mental health or a link for a psychotherapist if you search one. It is an offer for help if you'd like to but they don't force you to anything, so I don't get what exactly sounds dangerous about that?

Sounds like her ancestors who supported change-oriented governments that were regarded as progressive at the time, and used advanced psycho props to persuade anyone around the place who didn’t want to get on board. They were also into nature and very talented at population reduction.

This is a fkn joke, Siggi Freud would literaly puke and I hate every part of it.
@L00ww
@L00ww Год назад
thats not a good comparison, Freud died alomsot 100 years ago, since then times have changed amd we treat people differently now. how can you hate every part of it if she only explains what emotions do?

@@L00ww she's justifying her hysteria that comes with being part of a desth cult that is posing as scientific enterprise. It's all projection and I hate what society has come to concerning this and that a so called "psychologist" is taking part in it.
