We played very well. Fulham makes ALOT of elite teams look very basic with their fearless approach. United handled everything, all their tricks masterfully. Harry Maguire was phenomenal.

Hasent harry maguire undergone a full redemption arc! Not suited to a high defensive line as quick wingers would destroy him but in a low block he thrives. He wins everything in the air and his reading of the game today was excellent. He even stopped a 2 on 1 fast break from fulham by himself. He was motm today!

@@beno8983 Thank goodness someone else is saying this. At this level you only need to be a fraction off to look like crap and the risk of jail etc, just might mess with a lot of players' minds. I am not sure that he is the best fit for ETH version of MU but that doesn't make him a crap player. I also liked that he never briefed against the team or the coach, even when he was getting no game time and then lost the captaincy. No Piers Morgan interviews.

Agree with everything except the part about Rashford's position there. See where the goalkeeper is. By putting himself there, Rashford is opening the option for Garnacho to cross deeper if needs be. And that's an open goal. Besides, on the space you mentioned, should the ball does go there, Bruno is at the edge of the box, ready to pounce. So from here on out Garnacho had to do his job, and he did it well.

Zirkzee's finishing looks like something different. He doesn't like to blast it at all, just deft touches, often rolling the ball by the keeper at short to medium range.

I think Zirkzee will unlock the full potential of goalscorings Bruno & Rashford this season. Dropping deep would give space for Rashford to run behind, or be in his preferred 1vs1 situations. And provide channels for Bruno to be more around the box and shoot from there. That's what ETH always wanted from Hojlund, and Zirkzee is a massive upgrade for that role.

I personally think Rashford - Zirkzee - Hojlund would work so good against teams that sit back. 1. ZirkZee dropping as a false N°9 combining with bruno as two number 10s. 2. Hojlund tucking inside from RW 3. Mazraoui becomes a right winger. 4. Dalot inverted LB 5. Rashford staying wide and get much more of those 1vs1 situations

This is a pattern we will see more often this season. Runners like Rashford, Garnacho, and Mount will run in behind and stretch the opposition defense, while opening up space for players like Bruno, Zirkzee, or Amad to receive the ball at their feet. The brilliant idea is to stretch the opposition while we ourselves stay compact and narrow, with lots of triangles set up for the playmaker

We should have been 2-0 up at halftime. Put Fulham deep the whole game and made their counter useless by quickly getting back on shape (praise Slabhead for a class interception). Much room for improvement but 10x better than our last season opening game.

Great breakdown bro. These punshits hate us so much they talk rubish in their analysis of games we play. Zirkzee doesn't call himself a 9...he loves to go deep and help with the play. Which creates a cluster that helps in the midfield with both defense and attack. Saw him do it as he came on. Good player. I also thought Rashford should have gone in between the two defenders for the ball in the box to attack that ball from Garnacho. Instead he lingered outside of the right back, which makes no sense. He needs to leave. It's time.

If rashford makes the run you mentioned which is defo the better option as you said but I feel he would have been offside once zirkzee touches it as he would have assumed the ball was being played to him and made an early run
