They just don't make 'em like Howard anymore. God rest his soul, I've adored him since I was a baby and my mother used to play Calamity Jane & Seven Brides For Seven Brothers and we'd sing along to them.
I'll never understand why Howard Keel didn't have a bigger movie career. He was like Clark Gable with a terrific singing voice only more so. And he didn't fall apart physically like Gable did.
I love your phrasing ''effortless charm'' - never more true a saying was said! You know how we all have things we do/eat/read/watch when we're not feeling so happy? LIstening to Howard is one of mine. Such a lovely man.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful manly voice Howard Keel legend singer actor entertainer and wonderful star of Pagan love song The house of the singing bamboo PRICELESS
What a career he had - and gave top value every step of that illustrious way. So good to know so much is preserved for our enjoyment and admiration today.
Unbelievable that he still had that perfect voice at that late stage in his life, full marks to him. Such a shame he is no longer with us. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of my mother taking me to see his movies.
Oh I could never have turned him down that's for sure! Definitely enjoyed seven brides for seven brothers film several times just on account of that twinkle in his eye :)
How can any self-respecting woman condone that vile,out-dated abduction scene that ruins the entire movie ? I consider ‘’Kiss Me Kate” his best movie and the spirited Kathryn Grayson gives as good as she gets.
To my great embarrassment, I only discovered recently that Howard Keel was an incredible singer, even had a background with some of the centuries greatest opera singers.
Pagan love song Howard Keel ,you don't have to count sheep that's for little bo peep when you live in the house of the my singing bamboo thank you Howard Keel R I P
Here are some of the actors that had loyal responsibility and above all respect for their spouses their friends and all of Humanity do you have now in 2024 well they're not worth a s***
HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother was the Queen Mother's title. Her Christian name was also Elizabeth. Although this footage was uploaded in 2008, the production must've taken place in 1990.
Howard Keel was in the London Oklahoma in 1947 that Queen Elizabeth and The Prince Philip saw and loved and People will say we re in love became their favourite love song tgst Keel and Betty Joan Gardes sang in this performance
Let's be honest here. He doesn't sound very good. A glimmer maybe at times of his younger voice. HIs voice sounds tight and he isn't holding any notes, he is speaking the lyrics mostly. The singing that made him famous left him by the end of the 1970s.
No one sings the same at 71 as they did at 31. You can't expect that. He still had a big voice, great stage presence, charisma...the audience loved him.
