Remember how crazy and almost on par with 9/11 this incident was when it went down? These days school shootings are almost like a given and we have absolutely become insanely desensitized
I got out of school in 2001. I got out just in time. Today kids threaten parents about doing mass shootings even though they have no intentions but thats how kids think like today
I listened to the show the days after 911 recently and couldnt believe how normal robin sounded, she didnt seem at all traumatised , lauging, joking as normal
I remember listening to this the morning before school when I was a Senior. And it was uncomfortable...but I laughed...because this is how people deal with horrible shit. With humor. I listened to the whole show after school because at that point there were little groups on the usenets that would have these shows up by that afternoon and my friend had gotten me hip to usenets by then...back in 1999. Buffered a lot, but I listened as I did my homework and played video games.
Agree 100... I remember listening the next day and Howard swore up and down he didn't say anything that bad...I was almost yelling at the radio to PLAY THE TAPE BACK.. That's all they had to do and they wouldn't...after that, I lost a lot of respect for him.
@@Marchosias_Rex That was his way. He would say abhorrent things and then a day later wax poetic about how he should totally play the tape back to prove he didn't say it, but never actually do it because what he said was actually horrible. it really shows how ridiculously full of it he was when you listen to it all online and can hear it happening all in one sitting. I still find a lot of his stuff funny, but no doubt he was a piece of shit.
Nothing will ever top the 90s/early 2000s Howard Stern Show. Even though I despise Howard these days for pretending to be woke, I gotta admit his show entertained me during my high school/college years.
His transition thru the years was so weird. He used to be so controversial that most celebs wouldn't come in to his show. Years later as he became more popular, the celebs wanted to be booked for the show, even if Howard talked shit about them. But yeah, his show was a big staple of my life, as well.
Stern used to do amazing at historical type radio during some crazy times. I have no idea how people convinced him his best was interviews "one on one"
in this episode?? Homie its Howard Stern, he ruled the radio waves from the 90s to late 2000s and guys like you were crying in the corner over the stuff they were saying
At the job I had during his peak, we would get a bunch of shit from the older workers & blacks when we had Stern on. The boss then took a poll & becuz the majority of us employees loved listening to him, the boss allowed us to keep it on everyday lol
Awesome to see Kamala's favorite talk show host, and how he pulled his own "alex jones moment", yet never got sued for a billion dollars. Stern is soo respectful of women.
@@danadicapgriffy Yeah, but its only one daughter. I remember watching some video on youtube where it were al three of them and John Popper. But it was put down
This was right when I started listening as a kid too lol I always snuck to watch the E show cus I was only in like 6th grade at that the time but I reallly became a superfan around 99. But yea I played hookie from school the day before so I watched all the columbine shit go down in real time, so I knew the show the next day would be excellent
Was watching live as Janks phone call went out over the air and was so intrigued how Howard was going to address it on his show lol Capt Janks was awesome at getting on the air but damn did he just blow at his execution; he made the Jerky Boys and Sal&Richard look like the Beatles and The Rolling Stones of prank phone calling
Imagine the Following: Imagine you were a parent that day watching TV and not knowing if your kid was killed or still alive and a parent or more parents heard this Jenk making a mockery of the lives of their children. Yeah. This was bad. This was in the days when Stern had not become the guy he is today for sure. Too much laughing just hours after this tragedy.
"New Stern" is nothing more than a walking gaslight on 2 legs trying to sanitize his persona while hoping everyone has amnesia. The old Stern was simply an unapologetic reprobate, and because of that he had more relevance in the culture. So yeah, the old Stern is worse in my opinion.
11:16 this is Pittsburgh Pete. He’s a planted caller. They act like he was this random caller in like 2006 but he’s been calling making fake calls that Howard orchestrated for years.
Why would he be woke now? He´s never been a conservative. They have always hated him. Are you saying that if a person talk like an educated person and show empathy he´s woke?
1:00:00 - the gang talking about some of the logistics of it all, already I’m starting to think back and realize something was up with the whole ordeal, maybe didn’t exactly go down precisely like the media said 🤷🏻♂️
5:20 absolutely Howard has nothing to do with why they make the prank calls. It’s not like when he hears them he plays them on his show or anything! I’m sure they’d still do it even if Howard didn’t acknowledge it and didn’t play it on the show! I love how Howard always recuses himself from any responsibility from anything. They don’t work for Howard but he sure as sh*t encourages it. He’s talking about how all these people called and told him he shouldn’t have done it, so he says hey I don’t have anything to do with it! But he plays it first thing on his radio show. So I’m sure after that they learned their lesson and would never do it again! Howard could control that sh*t in a heartbeat.
Are you people serious? The guy is a raging misogynist! He absolutely hates women. I don't trust ANYONE who thinks this guy was/is ever funny. He made rape "jokes" about victims of Columbine shooting, he said how "great" it was seeing schoolgirls run during the shooting (alluding to their breasts pouncing) he sexualized women even in that kind of situation, he's demented and so is everyone who looks up to this guy. He "rated" women's bodies and was visible disgusted by a woman with large, natural breast. That is not the only time that he had judged women's bodies, mocking them. He's every incels dream boy. He also drove Dana Plato over the line, causing her to kill herself. This man hasn't "changed" by the way, he's only aware that you cannot tell that kind of "jokes" today so now he's pretending to be "woke".
They were all goofing on Columbine which is sick but for some reason hearing Robin cackling while she's talking about how they kid kids is extra sickening
Half of the things Howard Stern said in the 90’s were disgusting, what do you expect lmao. For some reason the FCC let this dude broadcast on terrestrial radio until 2005, lord knows how it lasted 20 years.
Back when the world had a sense of humor. The more thin skinned society gets, in an attempt I suppose to prevent and things from happening, the more bad things happen.
I miss this so much. I was listening to Howard when Gary threw that first pitch at a mets game. Wow that whole show would get cancelled today and this was back in 2009. I'm amazed how much times have changed in such a short time. Feels like were back in the 1950s
@@whitefarrakhan1839there's a lot of speculation that they were neo-nazis because they became obsessed with natural selection and made racist remarks during the shooting, Eric Harris was also a big fan of the German band Rammstein. But it seems that it was something they went back and forth on because Eric also wrote on his website that he hated racists, and there's no example of them ever directly talking about nazism or Hitler or anything like that.
@HossEehoss I get it, but that's his niche. He is offensive and says things that most people find ridiculous. He's toned it down a lot now, but back in 1999 he was still in that mode. I was actually more surprised at how serious he was during 9/11 since that was only 2 years later.
