I Listened to Stern from 92 to 2009. That's how I will remember the show. Stern today? And the show? Based on what I hear from people I dont recognize it. The young fans today (if there are any) will know this Stern and the show today. They have no clue how incredible the show was and how different stern was.
I’ve been on a Gilbert bender for the last few weeks. I couldn’t believe it when I heard he passed away. Every time he was on Stern you knew you’d die laughing.
I’d never heard his Seinfeld impression, and to know he was doing it before Jerry was even famous just to fuck with him is hilarious to me. I can’t believe Gilbert is gone.
While we wish you’d have had him on during these last several miserable years, I’m grateful for the 100+ appearances. You two were a real team. It’s a dark time for comedy. May he Rest In Peace (and laughter)
Yea Stern wasn't too kind to Richard Simmons and several others either! When he finally retires there will be a lot of baggage there in terms of his legacy!
There’s very few comedians left that are true innovators and belong on the wall of the all time greats, and it’s crazy to think we’ve lost a handful of them within 6 months
Gilbert was amazing on the show. I think he was the best comedian on the show, Kinison and Dice included. I loved when Howard would interview him and ask some silly questions and Gilbert would crack up laughing. Robin would always bust his balls about being cheap and throw in some one line jabs at him and he would talk over her during the news. His impressions were great: old Groucho, Belzer, David Brenner, Jerry Seinfled jr., Dracula Gottfried, Rabbi Gottfried, jews/black people/latinos/asians and any other group of people, Dice Clay, Artie, he did it all. The best Gilbert story was when he had his appendix operation and Howard would say how awkward it was to visit him and how he asked Howard to buy him pajamas with an elastic waistband and a thermometer. Classic. Howard knew how to get the best out of Gilbert.
as soon as heard the news of his passing my mind went directly to gilberts Dracula impression. Out of all things he has done that one stuck with me the most. Thank god for youtube, because the full interview with him doing it is up.
A great one was when Amy Heckerling's assistant called in complaining about him making holocaust jokes to her after he found out her family members were in the camps. He called in and every accusation she made he just confirmed it laughing and going even further 🤣
@@db194db Well he became persona non grata after he decided it would be a good idea to spit on some cupcakes that were meant for other people to eat. Howard was not happy after that stunt.
He was a great comedian and a terrific guest. It is amazing how you are able to remember what was said in previous shows and how you summarized some of the greatest comedic moments. That was excellent!
When I use to love Howard Stern. I remember robin getting mad when they did the news because they just kept it going so much longer then the show would be...lol
