OMG!! The hate is horrible. My son is on the drumline in the Showtime Band and comes from Westlake High School, a feeder school to many SWAC bands. Howard is a private institution with a 60K price tag and has a 3.5 GPA requirement. Many of the band members don't get scholarships for band but academics. He wishes they were bigger but I think they work with what they have. Wish HBCU supporters were more supportive.
Love this! That was an awesome performance. And they nailed it in the heat too! Great job Howard! (And I saw my boy at the very end coming off the field! Miss you so much! Enjoy all of it son❣️)
I hate to see these historic bands struggle but we have to understand it's not the students fault at all. It's poor leadership. These schools tend to put anybody in these director spots just to fill a position. Most of the time they bring in a director whose experience has been mostly high school and that's the culture they bring instead of stepping up to college level. We have to stop selling our kids short and start investing in good experienced band directors and athletic directors for our HBCU 's.
that’s not the problem, the problem isn’t the bands direction but the schools direction nd how marching bands are nowhere near as popular here as they are in the south
@@koju3891 Also our black high school bands on the East coast aren't as large and don't produce as many college ready students and they aren't that excited about marching in a collegiate band.

HU is known for their big sound and small size. I hope they keep growing and get back to the days when they had more numbers. They still sound and look good though. 😎👍🏿👍🏿
Fire everybody , the band director the nusic arranger. The person who designed the field show. . The dance girl choreographer can stay she did the best she could with the mess they was playing. Auxiliary was good except the drum major and yes that type drum major is Auxiliary

There are plenty of great sounding sideline recordings, let’s not create excuses. HU is rebuilding and they would sound the same up close or at a distance at this point.
@@meetmeonthe50 Agreed, but no excuses were given in my initial remarks. They never sound good, in my opinion. However, other videos I saw of this performance shot from higher in the stands sounded a bit better than this. I still hate sideline recordings. I'll probably always hate them.
Sometimes that’s true. Depends on the phone. I’ve heard great bands but the sideline wasn’t that good. However, this band needs sometime to get stronger.
Enjoyed the performance, the DM made attempt to bring back old school and the ladies with the batons. I also agree those uniforms look as if they just declared victory. 🥴
Nooooo Howard. Not impressed. They just had to have a band program and just have one just because they have football program. This was a mess. They must didn’t tune there instruments. Very out of tune and sharp. 🤢🤢🤢
If it wasn't for there dancers I would have sworn this was a highschool band , not even a good Highschool band. They sound horrible and the arrangements was horrible
I agree. The sound was off...just something off. Very large band but just not .....what you would expect for an HBCU, collegiate-level band. I'm an HU alum and I've seen better. Salsa? I blame the director, whoever it is. The compilation just couldn't get me out of my seat
