It's probably silly but I've never been on ice before, I started learning how to skate on inlines 6 months ago and I started from not knowing how to skate to today doing my first Ina Bauer thanks to this vid. I'm so freaking happy! 😭❤️
I’ve never been able to do a very good Ina Bauer. I didn’t realize my back leg should be directly behind the front leg and suddenly, I can hit the Ina Bauer position. Thanks for the great tip! ☺️

I've learnt my first steps an eternity ago. I was keeping kids in leisure centers and I was in charge of a little group. I was a kind of 'forced' to improvise directly on site because I just didn't know a thing about skating. Finally, It was easy straight because I spent my childhood playing with my rollers outside with the other kids of the neighborhood. I never felt! Haha! Thanks for your tips and Happy Birthday!

I wish her videos all start with the format Intro: today we’re gona learn the Cut to Julia showing what that move looks like for real Then continue with regular programming, the history, progressions, etc... Not sure about other watchers but I don’t know a lot of the names of moves. To have to scrub to the second half of the video to see what it is, before returning back and rewatching from the beginning feels inefficient...
Place the right arm in front pull your right arm back like your pulling on a rope ,twisting like a 3 turn almost without really turning the torso really helps beginners In my experience
@@pallafox I do not know what YT is. However, I am a former ice skater who did some artistic roller as a kid. I had a great straight line bauer on quads. Could never do a bauer or eagle other than inside on ice. I recently went back to quads as a mature adult planning only to dance. However, I can still do straightline bauers and eagles. I am even getting an outside eagle, which I never had on ice or wheels.
Hi Julia! I am a daily visitor to your videos, and I love your easy to understand explanations!! I was wondering if you have a video with a suggestion on the order of skills when learning to skate. I am in a group with skaters a bit above my level, and I would love to work on the right basics before moving on. I need to be stronger in my fundamentals before doing more advanced stuff. For instance, is Ina Bauer eaay or more advanced move. What is the prerequisite for an Ina Bauer. Is there a list, maybe? For the next few months after Christmas, I will train on my own, and these two months, I want to strengthen my basics. I am an adult skater of 50 years old, coming back to skating after a 34-year break! I've been skating 4 times a week since the beginning of October. If you have a video or list of what moves, I should master in what order, I would love a link! 🙏😊 Thank you again for all the amazing work you have given us!! ❤
That's really well explained. I am doing artistic roller skating (on quads) and even though the setting is different if think that works the same. I am having that issue with my Ina Bauer being a tight circle ^^' Hopefully with time they'll look better !

August 2023. Today, I got started with ina bauers. Before doing it, coach says how she can’t believe we are doing this, but we’re gonna do it cuz she thinks I can do it. She goes over all the moves that she doubted I could do but was proven wrong. (Minus spins…*cough*) She also says this is what “real skaters” do. Not just jumps and spins. Yeah, after seeing my grit and fire, she says she no longer sees me as a hobbyist skater, but a crappy competitive skater. I have known for a while that this is your favorite move, but I must confess that I haven’t watched this video cuz I didn’t think it was a move I’d ever attempt. Obviously, my hips are too stiff for now. But I’m gonna do hip flexibility exercises and hopefully pull it off. (Pull off as in pulling off the move, not my muscle) Anyways, on my first go, I did tight circles with my left foot leading, whereas the right foot leading IB was a little better, though it didn’t last long. Watching you do corner to corner, I can already see myself going for that. Yes, your IB in the video is very beautiful. ❤

But i have only one remark : these subtitles on a black background hide exactly your legs and skates and we can't see the most important thing! Please do something🙂 I wish you all the best!
You can turn off subtitles on the video yourself actually! The little gear icon in the lower right (or upper right if on mobile) lets you turn subtitles on and off and, if there are several languages, switch between them. And if you want the subtitles but they are obscuring the most important part, as long as you're on a computer, you can use your mouse to drag them to the top of the video
