Thank you for the wonderful video on taking care of hoyas! I just started collecting them and have been searching for care tips. So many other videos just want to showcase what the presenter has in his or her collection that they don't detail how to care for them! I like that yours was very direct and detailed and I learned quite a bit without having to sit through unnecessary content. I look forward to more of your videos!
That is a beautiful hoya you have there I'm just getting into them I only have one in my collection and that is the Hoya Krimson Queen thank you so much for all the hoya tips.🌿
i have a bunch of fairly new hoya, which are in terra cotta pots and in a barky potting mix, but i am having trouble knowing when to water because the potting mix always feels dry. Any tips? I don't think i should be watering them every day.
When I get busy I just give my hoyas a very small amount of water on a schedule, about once a week. If you have more time you can check the leaves, if they’re firm they are fine, if they are soft they need water.
I just got a couple of Hoya cuttings I’m weighing which pots to use in my mind after they root Plastic or terracotta?? I live in the south I have 2 in ceramic pots already but I want to repot them because I feel like the ceramic holds too much water
I like terracotta. I feel it keeps them a little drier, which hoyas prefer. Either is fin just make sure you adjust your watering to allow them to dry out in between.
Would you repot a hoya that you bought in regular soil with no bark, perlite, etc? I repotted some in the past and they died. I recently purchased a few that are in basic mud.. they aren't drying out. I'm scared to repot them tho.
I’m not sure if you read old comments: If so!! With your fertilizer mix.. once you add it into a watering can, do you fully water your hoyas? I’m afraid to burn my plant if I give them too much fertilizer
Hello! I have a question regarding my Hoya obovata. I just recently been noticing the leaves to turn soft and light green. Sorta have a veiny look. Some leave feel nice and thick and strong. But others not so much. I been sticking to under watering than over watering. Have not had plant for to long. When I repotted Hoya was very rooted was not able to detach and loosen roots. Potted in half cactus soil and regular potting soil from miracle grow. Been watering it once a week. Place it outside in shade for it to get better indirect sunlight. Not sure how to repair it. HELP!
It’s so hard to tell without looking at it. Soft and light green sounds like overwatering. Once a week may be too often. I let my soil completely dry out for a few days before watering again. Sounds like well draining soil; but you might even add some orchid bark. If you just repotted it may be going through an adjustment time as well. Sorry. Wish I could be more help! 💚🌱
I find the Carnosa varieties will tolerate medium light. They won’t thrive or grow very fast, but they’ll survive. Not sure I’d grow any hoyas in much lower light than that
Closer to a window, within 5-6 feet. Maybe even getting some direct sunlight through parts of the day. I try to avoid really far from windows or dark corners for my hoyas.
