Welcome to one of my biggest Hoya haul videos! I finally got one of my larger shipments from Ah Hoya Nursery in Thailand. Since I imported more than 12 plants this time, I had to have an plant import permit per U.S. plant import regulations.
In this video, I'll show you the 20 Hoya I got, and go over step by step process to apply for a plant import permit.

Hi Amanda, have you got a video updated on how this imported hoyas as doing? I am waiting from one seller you order before. Kris from Thailand and nervous is the first time and maybe the last, I would like to keep them as adult plants to see their beautiful flowers next spring. Please, let me know. Amanda, you are like me. Buy first and figure out where to place them later lol. By the way, you have such a wonderful collection. I didn't know AH Hoyas sell such long vines. I always thought their hoyas are sold with 2 leaves/1 node cuttings. Now I am tempted to buy long vines rather than cuttings. Sometime, the cuttings do not root well.

I know! It can be bad lol!! They sell Hoya in different sizes actually. You can ask them what sizes are available =)

I just watched your other videos, like wise, it was very informative for me and that you mentioned you live in SF, help me more to understand better ( I use to live there and I live in Marin now ) as beginner for I think I can learn a lot from you. I am struggling with my new Kerii variegated, that keep losing the leaves. Soil checked, sunlight checked, is starting growing new roots thou..Any advice?

If the roots are okay, leaves loss can be due to the plant is just acclimating. It happens quite often when a plant is being moved to a different location. Since the growing environment changes, the plant might lose a few leaves. It should stabilize in a few weeks (assuming there's no other issue). =)

I wasn’t going to take notes until you got to Hoya walliniana.....oh MG, so pretty. If I could grab some leaves thru the screen I would. I have the sigillatis and I heard it was difficult; for me it has not been and it has grown and has beautiful colors, already one of my favorites. When you got to Hoya glabra i had to stop watching....too much for my little brain to take in. Thanks so much for an eye opening video.

Once again thank you for sharing information and your expertise. I was looking into AH Hoya from your recommendation, followed them and was looking at how to order just this morning. The permit process put me off because I didn’t know where to start so this video is on point and timely. I will most definitely be putting that Walliniana UT-152 on the list, it’s a stunner! 😍 One question, what are shipping charges like for an order this size?

I am glad it helps!! I paid $150 for shipping via EMS. I believe they offer different courier options with various costs.

I recently applied for this permit too! I was surprised at how quickly the approval process was. Glad to see this video as I am ordering from AHhoya in 2021. I have a question regarding the article created for hoyas in the permit. How did you address the sphagnum that vendors using pack around the root ball? Did you create a separate article for 'Moss'? Or did you include it in the same species article with Hoya under description of the type of plant you're ordering: seeds, stems, plant, flower, other: moss? Hope that makes sense. Or did they ship yours bare root?

I don't think you need to address the moss since it's not considered organic material.

Hi, I ordered all large plants. You can inquire the costs by messaging Ah Hoya. Since I ordered them months ago, may be the prices are different.

I personally always use EMS since I never have any problem with them (Knock on wood). They both have their own pros and cons. I believe EMS is more affordable but courier is faster.

Okay so it's free to apply and it's pretty fast in my case. I got the permit within a few days. Once you got the permit, you can send that to the seller and they'll have to attach the permit on your shipment box.

Thank you for your support! With the permit, I believe you can import whatever amount of the particular species, at least from what I read on the APHIS website.

@@amandalaw7131 i don't think I've seen a youtuber who sells such beautiful hoyas!!! There Are some who have a nice selection who are genuinely sincere in their love for plants. However, you have inspired me to get away from the most common and look into the many varieties of interesting hoya. Of course the prices are crazy now but I managed to find a seller who's prices are fair. Your interest in hoyas is sincere and i truly appreciate your insightful info on them. Thanks for sharing!

how much does shipping usually cost from AH? and if you're getting less than 13 plants, do I need a permit?

Hi! The shipping cost for this particular shipment is around $150 with EMS. If you order 12 plants or fewer, you do not need a permit, per USDA regulation
