Really enjoying this series esp. the history you have with each hoya. In your experience, is it generally better to underwater hoya that is starting to bloom? I was so sad to discover my first ever hoya bloom to be(Hoya Pachyclada from Gardino Nursery) gone overnight. The buds yellowed and 1/2 fell off. And this happened a few days after I watered it too. Also, regarding humidity, I have been experimenting by putting sphag moss on those that I think would appreciate more humidity(dischidia ovata, hoya meliflua for example) and keeping the moss moist daily. Delaying using a humidifier in general and most of my plants are not within reach of it anyhow. Thanks as always for your hoya wisdom.

Thank you!! In my experience, Hoya drops its buds if there's any change in its growing environment. I tried to keep EVEYTHING the same when I noticed Hoya started to bud. Don't move it, maintain the consistent watering and fertilizing schedule, keep the same lighting and humidity etc. I think most Hoya are happy with a minimum of 50% humidity, with the exception of the higher maintenance ones such as Hoya imbricata. The Hoya with thinner leaves such as Hoya 'Iris Marie', Hoya multiflora may enjoy more moisture.

Omg, I'm going thru something with my multiflora larger leaves coming up weird. I just knocked them off in winter and now it looks awkward but new leaves are coming out clean and healthy. I love this one. Soil, Is like multiflora?

I keep mine in its original medium since it does well in it. From what I can see, it's a heavier mix. I think Hoya multiflora is okay with this because it doesn't mind a bit more moisture. =)
