Welcome once again! Today we take a look at lovely Hoya sp. aff. burtoniae. It is a shame this plant doesn’t have a proper name. It is a Hoya with very cute, pubescent leaves and a lovely red flower. The leaves are small - one thing I like about this Hoya a lot. It is easy to grow and it’s becoming easier to find. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it and I hope I can get my hands on a variegated version - if you’re not aware of it, make sure to check it out! I found my sp. aff.burtoniae locally back in 2013, about the same size as the small plant you have, for $3.99. Later that year I found another one similar in size. They're each in 4" terra cotta pots and have been in the same pots all this time. Together they hang in a double macramé hanger in a large unobstructed western-facing window, getting 300+ days a year of Colorado sunshine. The leaves are a mixture of peach and raspberry tones, with new foliage coming out very peach tinted, fading to red, and then to green. It does bloom almost year round, taking a break in autumn (it started blooming in November) and to me the flowers smell like rancid meat, although others compare the scent to caramel, which I can smell if I tell myself that's what it is. Still, at first whiff, it's not unlike the smell of something dead.

Interesting to hear that! Mine is not getting enough light and growing outside isn't really an option until I build some sort of a shaded deck. That will have to wait a bit. So now I have to rely on my windows and LED lights. I actually gifted my small one to a friend! I love the variegated version so I am thinking of getting that one. :) Small ones are easy to fit in my home, but bigger hanging ones... hard to find space for them with enough light. Plus, I tend to neglect all of my hanging plants...

Yes, they sell it under that name or tsangii. Rarely it will be sold under the correct name.

I have one exactly the same size than your cutting ,it was growing and all sudden stoped and now it have some white dust on it leaves and round scaring marks on the leaves , I have aplied funguiside ,clean the leaves and change location , but it still not showing any grow .What it could be?None of my other plants are showing any kind of disease.

The bigger one looks like it has longer leaves, might be an actual Hoya burtoniae

I got a Hoya labeled bilobata and it looks exactly like the one in this video except most of the leaves are just a little longer and thinner. Do you think it’s the same plant or maybe a different type?

It is possibly the same Hoya. I forgot to mention it is also sometimes sold under that name. The leaves can vary depending on the conditions in which the plant was growing, The leaves on my smaller cutting are more round that the previous ones, but it's still the same plant. The best thing to do would be to wait for it until it flowers - then you should know for sure :)

Basie Plants ok thanks! My plant is pretty mature and full so I guess that is why there is more variation of the leaf shapes
