Feels like they had to censor quite a bit for this animation. The bodies are all covered in a red cloth. I imagine that's instead of showing dismemberment or other gore. The impaled Sam's "blood" was green too but I think that goes back to some law somewhere I forget about. I remember Danganronpa's blood being colored pink because of it.
The green blood may be a hint to the SAM/Fireflies nature. They're genetically engineered, yeah, but the technology used to achieve the clones and explosive growth is hinted to be from the same Propagation power as the Swarm insects. They may not have red blood because they're not really humans

The tree is a symbolism of Firefly's will to live growing. And I think the reason why she destroyed her planet is bcs it's a failsafe protocol, in case if everything gone and they're losing, they would just destroy the whole planet along with the Swarm. But since Firefly still alive, she gets to keep her power up
I'm sure the tree is not there for mere symbolism. Honkai series doesn't do things like that... however we are not certain what it entails until we get more lore about her, possibly her bios or anything might give us a bit of insight to her awakening process. The only clues we have is that the SAM suit is capable to enhance itself based on the will of it's pilot by Welt's observation and it doesn't have built in functions as the one Firefly displays, making them unique of her when she found her new resolution. We also have to see what did she made Elio promise to her, it will all make sense once we get her... if i said anything it would just be theory. Edit: Firefly info came out recently in Hoyolabs, surprisingly she is stated to not joined the Stellaron Hunters like the others, she didn't ask or is expecting something from Elio as a reward for working for him but rather she just doing it to defy her destiny, it also explains why she defies elio's scripts as she does see his scripts as part of her "fate". I would personally wish that she just joined the astral express at this point, that sounds more of a path of trailblaze thing to me, and not needing to be a part of the Stellaron Hunters as she doesn't exactlly need Elio's skills for anything she needs in particular but sadly it won't happen, they might not accept her because she has the largest IPC Bounty on her head out of all the Stellaron Hunters.
@@plang-plang5035 the reason i find the tree interesting is because they are running themes in honkai 3rd, from the imaginary tree, the abyss flower and even the project su is part off and they all have in common ties with destinies and branching paths. In a way empowering firefly in the same manner as said situations, im curious to know the truth about the sam suits to know what all this means since it feels related to major things in the honkai universe but without facts to base events on is all just theory.
maybe Firefly got an "upgrade" by absorbing that tree and that's why she suddenly got those green wings. I believe Glamoth isn't their only planet, it is Titania's empire afterall
For those wondering, in her keeping up with star rail, its is said she goes into her ult state when she “externalizes her will onto the suit”, so firefly prob had just unlocked that power at that time cus her will became that strong in that moment

@@YumiSumire they would've died like the girl did, Firefly was the only survivor for a reason, and she had to destroy the planet because of the swarm. There were more coming + there were probably eggs deep inside considering how huge that swarm mother was. Destroying the planet was the only way to make sure they were dead for good.
I beg for these type of cinematics to be in the main story. The short animations we get from time to time like in Penacony are good, but if we got a single long form animation like in Hi3 at the climax of every story arc, I would be so happy because there is SO much potential for this storytelling.
14:30 the way i see it, she obtained that power right there as she reached enlitenment from starting to question her beliefs(keep in mind that starrail powers all come from having indepth understanding of an idea and so i believe it was at that moment the so called new shoot[idea/path] started to bloom and granted her new power)
it's pretty fucked up if you think about it. If she wasn't brain washed into following orders until the very end, then perhaps she would've reached that potential and saved Glammoth a long time ago. Or perhaps not, who knows?

Either if it's an evil character like Sirin, a good character like Bronya or just a random grunt like Anna, once they reach their awakening they instantly become world ending threats in just a brief time when they used to be just a normal foot soldier. And that's why the concept of superior beings granting powers they make even a frail girl turn into a planet destroying threat and this drives the entire society in the honkai universe extremely paranoid of herrschers awakening sprouting as it could be anywhere and any random person could just become one out of the blue. And the scariest thing of them all is that there doesn't seem to be a limit of how powerful they can grow stronger infinitely as times goes on even exceeding emanators and only aeons being straight above due to how powerful and ancient they are, however, with enough time and evolution they have the capability of killing an aeon in the right situation, keep in mind im starting they can kill aeons, not they will surely kills aeons. So everyone needs to neutralize a herrscher as soon as they are detected as they are extremely dangerous due to their insane power growth capabilities.
LOL....He had no idea what's happening in those scenes...about how the Glamoth Empire clones Queen Titania's cells to equal the million forces of the Aeon Tazzyronth's Swarm. And how the operation Scorched Earth is about doing the most damage to obliterate the number of swarm, even by the means of suicide or sacrificing the entire army. Plus Kafka was just sent their by Elio to get Firefly, who was floating their for hundred of years already....just to follow the script.
If you watched the Keeping up with star rail you will see welt say something like she awakened it through her own iron will and it wasnt anything pre installed in the mecha.
I have the Grave of the Fireflies DVD. I watched it with my wife. She told me never to show her a movie that sad again. Though she did recover faster than when we watched the Japanese version of the grudge. It took weeks till she could sleep without a light on.

about the sams in the video all being the same type IV... my understanding is that since theyre called strategic assault mech so i assume they operate like helldiver or ODST where you send them as shock troopers, while other type that we see in previous video have different purpose like escort/bodyguard, scouting surveillance, or just general grunts. either that or hoyo is just being cheap with the animation.
yea no I think they're just being cheap with the animation lol, cus sending just 1 type of unit into battle is just the dumbest thing someone can do. that's like deploying tanks without infantry escort and vice versa, literally a sitting duck and target practice for the enemies
From the other short, it seems that each different type of Firefly mech belongs to different units entirely. That's why they said that they won't meet each other again.

Nanook, or maybe the path of destruction, did not exist during the swarm disaster. It was only after the swarm disaster ended where Yaoshi and Nanook became aeons
@@NariInsho the swarm disaster took place way long ago (many amber eras ago)...what they fought in Glamoth is just the remnants of it. That's also why it's in the SU, it's an old event with not many infromations on it, but the swarm still exists (with a way reduced army/insects) and people still fight it on other planets like Glamoth did. So yeah Nanook already exists at this point in time since firefly has a human lifespan too.

she didn't break the planet by herself because she only got super combustion state, it's something unique to her that her MENTAL Will broke the mech specification and made the armor go into overdrive giving her more power than what she suppose to have. Welt talks about it in Firefly keeping up with star rail.
I like the JP dub better but I REALLY like the way they transitioned in the En dub in the line "life begets death" from Firefly to Sams voice mid line whereas in JP it just kind of overlaps at the end.

The reason why SAMs look the same has to do with the studio that animated this and the technique they use. They are the ones who made the famous Honkai Impact 3rd animated shorts. Basically it's a 2.5D animation where they have the whole scene in 3D with the models and stuff and then they "rotoscope" over it with 2D animation. They simply did not have the budget/time to make 3D models for all those SAMs. (they probably aren't planning to make them playable...🥲)
The animated short is one big NieR:Automata reference. The Fireflies are like the Androids, fighting for a lost cause, their motto "For Glammoth, Her Majesty" has the same vibes as "For The Glory of Mankind". The black and white scene also reminds me of NieR:Automata
Note: This takes place during the swarm disaster. Nanook didnt ascend to Aeonhood until after Tayzzyronth was defeated and the swarm mostly quelled. Nanook's planet was unfortunately a planet that was hit by a remnant of the swarm and with no help for THEM or THEIR people THEY annihilated everything. The same is true for people believe that this could be the blessing of abundance for someone who desperately craves life. Yaoshi did not exist either and could not have bless Firefly. The tree sprouting before her transformation is symbolic in nature and is gone once she finishes and the camera pans out. The only thing we currently know is that Firefly's power up is a manifestation of her will power to live changing the SAM armor with a slightly new look and greatly increased power. This power up is also what keeps her alive in stasis for all these years until Elio tells Kafka to pick her up.
if you pay attention in the last part, she gained some power from the ground, or maybe the planet, giving all the life force to firefly. it's a form of last struggle of life, because the swarm is literally consume planet and stars. planet explosion should be able to cause supernova normally, since there's actual nuke as the core of planet. but in this case, it didn't, just small explosion, maybe it's because already absorbed by firefly
No. Supernova only happens when a star's core collapses and thats also only with super massive high density stars. Not every star can go super nova. Going super nova is not some average blast in space, the amount of energy and mainly gamma radiation released travels so fast in space and long distance. Sometimes those super novas can even affect planets in long distant star systems. So no its not super nova but a regular planet explosion and even if the core explodes it cannot sustain or grow bigger in size when it collapse.
She probably absorbed the remains of her allies, since that's how they transform through some sort of energy? assuming so. Since how could they have such an armor without an energy banking that body. So she might have the capability to do that, since they are all dead from the explosion. Absorbing the powers to transform once last time.

I think it was that they were fighting to defend the planet but after the massacre ff realized that it was stupid to fight for an imaginary queen and absorbed all the life force left in the planet to do a final suicidal attack and end it all.
Her Squad Type 4 S.A.M.s,, i forget but there are either four or 5 versions of SAMs. They were assigned a Scorched Earth operation mission. Back in WW2 days, some people like the russians would use scorched earth tactics to make sure the opposition wouldn't be able to make use of the resources. So this is basically a suicide mission just for the petty sake of fighting the Swarm.
1 they were trying to save the planet. 2 she would've killed everyone. 3 she probably only just awakened her full power after having that traumatic experience.
Assuming the entire world was hit with a lazer capable of killing a bug a size of a moon, I would assume that that lazer basically almost destroyed that planet. Firefly transforming and flying off just ignited what's left in that planet thus destroying it from the core. That's also why she flew away.
Huh.. wonder when Pokke will realize that the remains of the swarm was still flying into get Firefly when she went SupaTreeBreak... and that the Glamoth war vs the Swarm occurred 5000 years ago.. so Firefly might have actually wiped out the swarm remains AND might have been sitting there in space for FIVE millennia until Elio directed Kafka to find her. There is a TON to this character we haven't seen. Crazy.
What say something, that i dont see much people talking about is that the mech suit is not really a norma suit, is connected to the nervous system of the pilots, its like a second skin, so when they get hit they feel it, when the other pilot rip his sam "face" it was like ripping his own face, the pain was there.
Might also be worth noting the propagation was destroyed a loooong time ago, she was in stasis in the wreckage of her home planet for thousands or tens of thousands of years before elio sent kafka to find her.
Firefly became "the planet" Glamoth.. the planet might knowing it's going to get consumed by the swarm, so it answer the firefly cry, and giving all living energy to firefly, thus her power went up beyong limits. she destroyed the last wave of swarm, along with the planet.
The green blood may be a hint of the SAM/Firefly units true nature. They may not have red blood because they're not really humans, since it's hinted that the mass reproduction of these Fireflies clones used the same power of Propagation like the Swarm insects. As for her power up, other people like Welt already mentioned how the ability Firefly shown is due to her own willpower, performing feats that standard SAM units aren't capable off. That too may also be due to Propagation power, like the insects, her will to live grants her more power to survive.
14:14 My personal theory is that after the Sams made the swarm mother explode, the regenerative dust particles of the swarm mother on the ground came into contact with firefly’s genetically modified tears (because she’s a genetically-modified clone) causing a “nuclear” change to happen to her, where her red flames turned into green flames. She then proceeded to destroy the next wave of bugs by destroying the whole planet with her new radioactive power. TLDR, the mitosis of the swarm mother’s particles work like hashirama’s cells and a bit of water from her tears caused a nuclear reaction in the form of a tree. The tree then proceeded to modify Firefly and her mech suit.

Hello, my main reason why I believe that the tree sprouts is for the same explanation as when one plants a seed and begins its growth stage, the earth at that time was dry and a firefly tear moistened the earth immediately afterwards. firefly begins to shine brightly, causing and accelerating the growth of the tree or roots and this directly reflects how firefly evolved, now it is literally a firefly because it shines and its energy is more intense than before.
There is a theory that after the laser beam struck the swarm mother, it actually destroyed the whole planet. And everything else was imagined by Firefly. That's why she is floating in the space as a survivor.
