I decided to buy the Hoyt Rx3 and I love the way it is balanced and shoots. Im getting right at 300 feet per second sometimes 301 through the crono. Ive always bought a budget bow in the past but the feel of this bow is great. The bow is just the right weight for me and its plenty fast. People can hate all they want but its laughable for someone to say its not made well.

Would the dec reading going up so high because it’s reading the arrows smacking the target?
@ElkCallingAcademy
@ElkCallingAcademy 5 лет назад
It could have some affect. But it’s also a constant reeding for not bows in a small room with elevated sound levels.
@itsAariah
@itsAariah 5 лет назад
I was thinking the same thing. It should be the sound of the bow string and arrow flying without the added sound of it hitting the target. Could the RX3 have more energy hitting that target producing higher noise? Sceptical, but overall great video. Loved your transitions where you appeared to melt away during shooting at 10:00. Have a good, one!

The speed would probably be dead even if the vertix didnt have the whisker biscuit. Both great bows cant go wrong with either.

I will never have another carbon riser bow in my hunting career. Had one for a year and noticed that I started hitting farther and farther to the left. Thought it was possibly a cam lean issue. Took it to my pro shop and the riser was actually bent!! Shop said that there is so much energy stored in the riser that it can actually warp/bend the riser. No fixing it! Get new riser or a different model bow. Aluminum riser all the way for me! Besides, you are usually more accurate with a heavier bow anyways. Packing a bow that is a pound heavier shouldn't be an issue anyways, you want to come out with a much heavier load than you went in with! Right!?
@ElkCallingAcademy
@ElkCallingAcademy 5 лет назад

Was your best riser a Hoyt?
@matt__marcum
@matt__marcum 5 лет назад
@@philcross2784 It was a Bowtech Carbon Overdrive. I realize Hoyt risers are entirely different, but with one issue with a carbon riser, I'm extremely leary of ever trying another one. One pound or less of extra weight in a bow isn't significant to me whatsoever. I'm sticking with aluminum!

Can’t do a sound test with the target right behind the meter. It’s picking up the sound of the arrow hitting not just the bow

@ross7684
@ross7684 5 лет назад
@@ElkCallingAcademy so how do you filter out the sound of the arrow hitting the target so that it doesn't register on the meter. Realistically, the sound test should be conducted outdoors with the target at least 30 yards down range to drop that sound level below that of the bow.

Shot the rx3,helix, sr6, vertix all yesterday. Not a fan of the vertix draw cycle, the rx3,helix,sr6 all were very smooth draw cycles. Helix and rx3 felt identical, the grip felt a bit better on the rx3. I ended up going for the rx3, my current bow is a bear agenda 6 #73 pounds. The rx3/helix at 70# pounds felt like a 50# bow, so you know i ordered the 80# limbs.

Ordered a Vertix. Despite your speed testing, the Vertix and RX3 in my hands showed the Vertix 8 fps faster. Vertix is way quieter, way less vibration. Both have good grips. Both have good draw cycles. Edge maybe to RX3 on both. The talk on AT about the RX3 riser being “off,” meaning not machined well, turned me away. $1600 should be perfect. Vertix is on the way!

I just shot both, (along with Bowtech, Prime, Elite's newest)..... I would have to agree. As a currently sastified Hoyt owner, the Mathew's simply shot better in the hand, and it was definitely quieter. I would like to shoot both at long range... I'm going to have to think hard about it. I travel a lot while hunting, so weight is a concern, but I'm not sure if the 5 fps and 1/2lb is worth the extra $500 when the Mathew's shoots so smooth.
