In a TV exclusive, rocker Hozier and the legendary Mavis Staples took the stage to perform their duet "Nina Cried Power" from Hozier's new album, "Nina Cried Power." #Hozier #MavisStaples #NinaCriedPower
it physically hurts how beautiful his voice and his soul are. he's pure, raw emotion. his performance is mesmerising and I can't stop looking at how he feels the song as he sings it. it's like watching an artist create a masterpiece, it feels so intimate and intense that you almost feel like you shouldn't be there, but at the same time he's begging you to watch, he's giving this song to you and trusting you with it, hoping you'll take care of it. his performances are simple but so rich of emotions and unspoken truths and it feels like he's telling you a secret, and I feel a sense of acceptance that is needed so much right now in the world. he fills our hearts with a kind of love that can turn to power. he's making the world a better place. thank you, Hozier.
And you know Andrew Hozier has got to be genuine because a woman like Mavis Staples would not perform with some indie white boy otherwise. Hoziers a great person and singer. 😍
That’s the thing, if maybe... you haven’t heard him after the take me church there’s s reason. The guys is too genuine, also he belongs to this Irish generation that is really pushing forward in their activism
You SEE that music is a spiritual thing for him. Every time he performs it looks like he’s in prayer, like music is this mans religion and my god is he devoted
Wow, Mavis is the last surviving member of the Staple Singers and still sounds great. Yvonne, Cleotha & Pops have all passed. They were such a great group, love their music and still listen to it today. Hozier is great too. Take Me To Church is one of my favourite tunes.
This is pure perfection. Two amazing artists, with Hozier transforming and reminding us of the blood, sweat, and tears that these men and women, Black and White, raised their voices in protest against. Much love. xo
I have no clue how this album did not get a Grammy nom. Are they f.....insane not to give this an award for its brilliant lyircs and vocals...gosh this album covers so much that's going on in the world now...so is true for Aurora with her two new albums. Ugh...😒
I wish he was still as renowned as the *"Take Me To Church"* era; one of the few true musicians in the industry at the moment ✨ *Mavis* took us to CHURCH! ⛪ I wonder if she's a Contralto.
This is amazing. He literally keeps the beat with his whole body. Feet, hands, head. He keeps with the bass and beat at the same time. True talent, and that is voice is something else.
Hozier is my absolute favourite performer right now. The more I learn, the more incredible he's becoming. To think that he arranges all that music... Mind-blowing
Mavis is a one LIVING LEGEND, she is simply wonderful! Legendary Diva! And in lyrics, REFERENCES to LEGENDARY singers, in highlights the unbelievable Patti LaBelle, the best Singer of ALL time!
I'm sitting here with goosebumps all over and literal tears streaming down my face. This is the song of all the generations that have fought against oppression before us, and now it is our turn. The fight isn't over.
I just saw him in his first show at The Wiltern, all I wanted to do is thank him for writing this song, and I DID! He's such a badass dude that uses his platform for selfless reasons. So happy to be able to support artist like him! Thank you, Andrew! :)
He needs a Grammy nomination for 2019 and 2020. This song like all of his work is so beautifully and thoughtfully written and performed. Much success !!
amazing!!! i saw hozier last week in DC, and it shook me to my core. he's legendary when it comes to conveying emotion through his voice but i wonder if he was nervous here? still so good!!
Every time I hear him sing I get tears and feel his music so deep deep down, I can’t look away, I sing his songs so loud in my car, I cry for my dead husband, I’m utterly and completely touched and laid bare with nowhere to hide when I hear this man sing.
I love Hozier, always have, this is another one of his incredible musical triumphs. I love this song so much, seems like both studio and live are brilliant. His voice is so beautiful on this, as is Mavis Staples, she's incredible on this. their voices blend wonderfully together. 💕💕💕 This is a masterpiece
Listened three times in the past two days. It’s significance grows each time. From Nina to Marvin, all in the song cried power-something we all can do.
A comprise story of all ppl standing great and speaking for what they believe. Hozier's lyrics thread those and sing it for us so we can listen with our hearts
I finally have a new video to add to my Nina cried power playlist, which is just a list of every version on ncp I could find :) it’s absolutely perfect
Right here! This is the magic that makes me know that we are still full of good, grit, and undeniable passion. Much love and admiration to all of these fantastic artists that blessed and touched my soul. ❤✌🙏
This performance gives me power to get through this pandemic so that I can see him live someday.🙌 Also, fell asleep listening to him live on Instagram yesterday.
