More of an issue with publications and their interviews tbf. Im sure the vast majority of male artists would love to share their enjoyment of female artists they look up to.
I need Elle to start making a playlist for each person that comes on the show cause that just sounds like the most personal playlist for a person. These are the first songs to come to someone’s mind and i think that’s really cool
Sounds like a cool idea, but I strongly disagree about it being a peek into their soul, the way you imply. It's just the first songs that come to mind during a game where the objective is to give a right answer under the pressure of a ticking clock, so people are not gonna say the most personal song they associate to that word, but simply the song that the word evokes more rapidly to them in that one brief moment. I like to play along whenever I watch one of these, and in this case my answer for "stars" was I See Stars from the Mean Girls musical: a song I don't like from a musical that I only mildly enjoy, but that has "stars" right in the title and is fresh in my memory because I listened to it less than a month ago. Not a favorite, just a quick throwaway to score a point.
He was written by a woman. Simply the hottest person on earth, the perfect combination of inteligence, looks, talent and sensitivity. A true gift to us mere mortals.
This is a person who knows, understands and loves music. This is by far the best Song Association to date. Unlike other artists, who naturally go for their own lyrics and always seem to repeat the same song, he shared so many genres and each version was beautiful to listen to.
I mean they're literally fishing for them to promote their own music, they intentionally pick words from their new songs. Also did you see Lizzo, Trixie Mattel, Ariana Grande???
interesting i’ll be honest i haven’t watched a lot but of the ~20+ i have none of them ever repeated songs or sang their own more than one or two times max
very proud of him for not singing his own song for the second one cause Almost (Sweet Music) was the first thing i thought of 😂 the way he talks about other people and music is so beautifully full of love and admiration
3:14 - 3:17 when he says "ill tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife" and he looks up at the camera while singing in his honey sweet voice... the spiritual DOUBLE TAKE i did
Hozier is like a unicorn we don't get to see much of him on social Media doing interviews, Hey, we do count on you to save modern Music. I think this will always be my favorite video on this channel.
You can tell how in tune he is with music in the way he knows how far before the word in question he can start singing to still have it fit in the timing. So many songs where he hit it with one or two seconds left, purely out of love for its context in the song it's from.
can i just say how refreshing it is for a musician who's not necessarily in the pop genre (despite being quite popular in their own genre) to praise those who ARE in the pop genre and industry? maybe it's been a while since i've seen indie/alt artists talk about pop music, but it used to be these musicians would act high and mighty, better-than-thou because they're not making pop music, but the way hozier celebrates all music is just so, so nice and should be the bare minimum at this point
How can you not love this guy?! I saw him live a few years ago and after the gig he introduced everyone - I mean everyone on his team, not only the band. I'd never heard anyone do it. Much respect for him
Yep saw him a couple weeks ago, he still does this and then a “credits” runs on the screen after the concert listing literally every single person remotely related to the concert. First time I’ve ever seen an artist do that
His concert was still the best concert ive ever been to, his live vocals sound just like the album. He oozes talent its disgusting and lovely at the same.
It's funny - the moment I saw this in my recommended I knew he's gonna be the guy to get all 15. Just... couldn't imagine him sitting there and thinking and not getting anything, you know? You can tell this guys' head is FULL of great music and combined with his very calm demeanor and laidback attitude it makes him perfect for quick musical memory games like this.
Every time he sings he has his own style. It sounds like a whole different song. I love it. I love his unique choices, have a taste of the kind of music he enjoys and inspired by 🤎
I honestly thought he was going to sing 'Say my NAME' by Destiny's Child. He did a nice cover of it for Spotify Sessions (as well as one of Ariana Grande's "Problem").
I was going to comment how this is the best song association yet and how much of an incredible artist, songwriter, singer and everything else Hozier is, but everyone in the comments have already covered it all. I'm glad he's recognized as the legend he already is and will forever be.
