I played guitar and sang for years in my dad’s band, and I don’t think people understand how hard it is to be stomping like that and sing and play at the same time. I’d have to be sitting honestly. This guy is pure talent.
this video provides so much entertainment for me. from the drummer getting carried away with the clapping, to Hozier winking & smiling, to the girls giggling 😂
Well Rory and the girls kinda messed up but caught it before the actual clap. Alex....oh man....Alex gives me life in this video lol. Poor babe. he's tryin.
The female harmonies during the chorus are my favorite part of this song and it's something you really don't get in the studio version. This is soooo satisfying to listen to. Thanks so much for sharing!
I love that it's Alex Ryan providing the percussion with his boot while Rory Doyle faffs about. He deserves more credit as Hozier's partner in crime. Thanks for posting this.
Boys workin' on empty Is that the kinda way to face the burning heat? I just think about my baby I'm so full of love I could barely eat There's nothing sweeter than my baby I'd never want once from the cherry tree 'Cause my baby's sweet as can be She give me toothaches just from kissin' me When, my, time comes around Lay me gently in the cold dark earth No grave can hold my body down I'll crawl home to her That's when my baby found me I was three days on a drunken sin I woke with her walls around me Nothin' in her room but an empty crib And I was burnin' up a fever I didn't care much how long I lived But I swear I thought I dreamed her She never asked me once about the wrong I did When, my, time comes around Lay me gently in the cold dark earth No grave can hold my body down I'll crawl home to her When, my, time comes around Lay me gently in the cold dark earth No grave can hold my body down I'll crawl home to her My baby never fret none About what my hands and my body done If the Lord don't forgive me I'd still have my baby and my babe would have me When I was kissing on my baby And she put her love down soft and sweet In the low lamp light I was free Heaven and hell were words to me When, my, time comes around Lay me gently in the cold dark earth No grave can hold my body down I'll crawl home to her When, my, time comes around Lay me gently in the cold dark earth No grave can hold my body down I'll crawl home to her
This is so so underrated. I listen to this everyday. This is the best song I ever heard. The no instrument version here is so so extremely good its even better than the original! I listen to this more than to the original! This is the best thing here on RU-vid. I am extremely in love with that version. True artist
Oh my god, how I love this. Thank you very much for sharing, it would be such a shame if this wonderful moment would have passed without being captured. I love how they sound, love Andrew's voice, love the vocals, love the clapping and I especially love the mistakes. They are so cute when it happens, smiling and winking at each other. :)
You already know this, but you are so blessed to have been in the video and to have been witness to this performance! I have only seen him live once so far . I took my (now) ex-boyfriend to see him for our first Christmas present together (though it was the following April) in Vegas. It was a performance I'll never forget. I absolutely adore Hozier! I have a 100% Irish great great grandmother with the same last name without the H. I like to think of Andy as my long lost cousin.
So much more amazing acapella with guitar. I think I like this better than the official vid. You hear the ladies beautiful voices/harmonies even more. :)
I think I've watched this 20 times. It's amazing. He sounds better live. What a great video, thanks for posting it. He's beautiful and his voice is simply amazing
i absolutely love this to bits, its my favourite song and its been done spectacularly (the only bit i cant help but notice is that the background vocalists seem to become the foreground vocalists to the point where sometimes its a bit difficult to hear the lyrics)
Thank you Carrie for posting that. I have seen him live twice now, and he is just mesmerizing. He is so talented, his voice, lyrics, musicianship. And he seems like such a kind soul, hope he never loses that!!!
Pure talent this man is like we haven't seen in a very long time. And his back up musicians are damn good. Oh and his drummer didn't screw up there it would've been a screw up if he actually clapped when he wasn't suppose too
He is by far the best concert i have been to , he interacted with the audience was very humble and he sounded amazing better Live which not many artist are but he was amazing
