Today Cesar is showing us how to take apart a HP Elitebook Folio 9470m laptop. This teardown consists of disassembly with on screen instructions and a quick reassembly.
This tutorial, or parts of it, will help you prepare your laptop for repairs such as DC jack repair, fan replacement, hard drive replacement and video chip repair.

Phew. Quite an exercise to get to the touchpad ribbon. Remember HP's former models, it was just under the keyboard. Thanks for the great video.

some time few keys (a, s,d, l,k, 7,4) stop working, after pressing again and again sometime start working, after few seconds again stop responding, all other keys are working properly these 7 keys creating problem, when i turn on my laptop keys donot work even after pressing again and again but after spending some time on laptop keys respond for few seconds........whats the problem? laptop model is hp elitebook folio 9470m reply please as soon as possible

I was facing a Battery Alert 601 error and my laptop was not charging now laptop ran out of battery and it's dead now..what can i do please ?

You should not be using a spudger to remove the keyboard this can break the weak plastic bezel surrounding the Keyboard. If you look at the bottom of the computer, below the service door there will be a small hole at the top right corner of the fan (actual fan not heatsink module). Right below the DC jack connector. Place a soft blunt stick through and it will safely remove your keyboard. Lastly the screws at T8.

AsAnAtheistFilms You should also disconnect the HDD Adapter from the motherboard before you remove the base enclosure. Very risky to damage the motherboard or adapter.

what about replacing the touchpad and the buttons on the touchpad? is that possible if they arent working

This is the part you will need 748352-001 or you can replace the touchpad only which is 6037B0071901, the issue there is the entire top case assembly is cheaper :)

My 9470m sometimes won't power up. The Lightning light just flashes white and orange continuously. I've tried switching batteries and chargers but it is still the same. I've also tried various reset instructions I found online, but no luck. I'm convinced it is an issue with the charging system, but I have no idea how to troubleshoot/repair.

+SuperGh0stie Did you try charged battery when you switched it? It sounds like you have a faulty power jack. These boards are not known for power issues and the problem should be easy to troubleshoot. Try to wiggle the power jack or hold it under angle to see if the charging light will come up. The orange flashing light shows that the battery is fully drained and needs charging and eventually will stop blinking as well. Hope this will give you some ideas about further troubleshooting the laptop.

is the processor in this motherboard is upgradable? or is it soldered?

CPU is integrated on 90%+ of all new laptops including this model of HP. That makes them not possible to upgrade.

I have a problem with this model . Lightning flashes load. I tried with various chargers and still the same . It does with and without battery. It can be rebailing problem ? Only blinks 1 time in orange,

Seems that you don't get charge to the battery. Either power jack or power adapter are faulty. If you remove the battery and it still flashes orange when you move the power plug around inside the power jack it is possible. I doubt it to be a video chip problem of some sort. Make a short video. Also try and swap the ram's one at a time in each socket.

You can't. These units also have the BIOS PW in two of the chips, so changing BIOS only is not an option. You need to replace the motherboard.

365 Laptop Repair so if I change the 2 chips it will not reset password? People are selling Bios chip online for the 9840m, how is possible? Thanks

Bweiss5421 It is a metal spudger. Google it and you will find hundreds of different types. They sell on eBay and Amazon for about $4-5 for a set of 3 tools.

Most of the keys on my keyboard arent working and i think its the ribbon cable but the laptop screw s are stripped my warranty has run out i need to be quick for school

+Artysin It is most likely to be the keyboard. No one has been inside your laptop to be suspecting the ribbon cable. They can't unlock themselves. You need to use small tip flat head screwdriver or drill the bad screws out. Most computers shops will be able to remove those stripped screws for you in a minute.
