I was able to get the cover off without a plastic tool, using your instructions. Just lift it the right way and I got it off in 5 minutes. I removed the fan, and used WD-40 on the motor axle. Now it runs silently! I may replace the thermal paste at some point, and if the power supply can handle it, upgrade the CPU.
