Andrew, thanks so much for your channel! You are the only one who does reviews not for gaming laptops, but legit ones for work. Keep the videos coming!!!
Please don't buy hp envy x360. My hp envy x360 15 2022 hinges broke after 3 months of use. This is an inherent problem in this model and if you are not careful, it may even lead to breaking the screen.
I've been in Surface Pro land for a few years and was finally disgusted enough to get a new computer. I hate that charging connector with a passion. The actual computer I enjoyed but battery and charging was a pain in the butt. I purchased a Dell selling for $379 or so from Best Buy. That sucked royally as it wouldn't even play movies without issues and sound volume was so low as to be unusable. Had to use ear buds! Must have been something truly wrong with that unit. Had it just shy of a month. I was able to return and upgrade to the $899 HP Envy x360. Wow, what a difference, went from pulling my hair out to just smiling in total bliss. The little camera shutter is very kool. Now, after seeing your nice review, I'm thinking I should have gotten the OLED model so I'm heading back tomorrow to see if that's possible, if not, I'm still OK with this unit. I use exclusively for viewing movies, tv and social media.
Andrew, a couple of months ago I bought the pavilion 14 plus after watching your review and while I'm quite happy with it now with the envy out I'm experiencing buyers remorse
The OLED option with 400 nits is certainly the way to go on this laptop as it has a much brighter screen and color accurate. The price on a customizable version from the HP website is a steal!! Full size SD Card reader, nice port selection, great keyboard and touchpad, good video camera, internal mic, great battery life, okay speaker audio and Excellent upgradeability rounds out the HP Envy x360 15 (2022). Brilliant job Andrew!! 👍😁
@@bg3049 If you follow the links under Andrews’s video, you will see it, however, this is for the USA. Have you tried looking it up in Best Buy, Amazon and HP websites for Canada?
@@rafaelperez9652 Thank you! I can see there that you can choose your options.. Unfortunately, that isn't the case in the Canadian store.. The Canadian store offers a HP 360x Envy 15 w Ryzen 7 - 16GB RAM 1TB HD for 1300 CAD or roughly 950 USD. Only thing I'm missing on that model (sold at best buy) is the OLED - but pricing out the same model on the US site, with the OLED - it becomes 1748 CAD! Probably not worth the 348 to upgrade but I know that this is the number one complaint about these.. hmmmm what to do!?
I just got this laptop a couple weeks ago. Pros: good keyboard, tablet feature is nice, good processor, not bad price for a big laptop. Cons: display quality seems really outdated, trackpad feels cheap, i heard the hinges dont last long.
I think HP should have not introduced a 250 nit model, especially with a glossy screen. Simplify the SKU options and give people a model that has a good screen. I'll take a look at the local Best Buy to see if that will change my mind. The upgradeability is excellent. USB 4/thunderbolt would be better but for me it isn't a big deal. IR camera for Face Recognition is a must have for me. Great review!
i agree, my family and i had no idea what a nit was, and because we had never heard of it and how much the higher nit one cost, i decided to just go for the lower nit one (we could have afforded the higher nit option so idk why i said the lower nit one :( ). cue to me googling what it meant, and then looking at hp envy reviews in more detail and realizing i really should have gotten the 400 nit option. they should at least, next to the nit option, put a little thing that says " top brightness"
Can you please also do a review of the Envy x360 13? They're quite different and I've been eyeing it for a while now (especially with OLED) and I have yet to see reviews of it anywhere. Good work as always!
Nice PC for the price. Offering multiple choice of displays is good for many. Even though this PC you reviewed with the 250 nit option is not the best choice for some those with a limited budget such as a student will still appreciate this option for the price they have to pay. Camera image was good and so are the mics. Port selection is good. The full SD card option with the card being able to insert all the way in the PC is very good. Like the easy access to the insides and the choices for upgradeability. The one down side of course is the lack of the numpad. Many students will have some courses that use a spreadsheet program and I think an option to offer a model with the numpad from HP would make more sense. Anyway another excellent review.
i have the 250 nit version and its pleeenty bright on full brightness. i actually keep it turned down and adjust the radeon graphics settings up a little bit to save battery. i did have some back light bleed through intitially and swapped it out and havent had any problems again yet.
I recommend Oled it won't hurt your bank account and will be premium especially for video editing, on this particular laptop the other displays are bad (relatively) like 60% colour accuracy is just not it so oled is highly recommended
Hey Andrew, there's no USB C 4 connection standard, there's Thunderbolt 4 though that uses the same physical connector as your typical USB C. As far as I know, the Intel versions of this laptop have Thunderbolt 4, while AMD ones don't.
I just got this laptop with the OLED screen (16GB + Ryzen 7 5825U) and so far I’m pretty disapointed. It’s heating up pretty quickly. It goes arround 75°C while doing nothing on it. As a consequense a fan is always on (Left one I would say) and it’s making a pretty anoying whistling noise. As a comparison I had the 2021 model with a Ryzen 7 5700U and no problem with it. 45°C while doing nothing, the fans were almost always off. And the fan noise was almost not audible. So I don’t know if it’s just a problem with my unit.
yeah what ever you do dont pull off the rubber strip, theyre molded into the bottom plate.... ask me how i know...😒😒 also apparently youre not allowed to upgrade your SSD or RAM either. multiple HP reps have told me if i did that and opened the bottom cover i wouldve voided my warranty. only prob i have with mine is the big ass track pad getting in the way, even as i type this. stole mine for 499. love it.
The one I found was the 400 nits non-OLED version: they say in the specs is sRGB 100% but, I understand sometimes this is not 100% accurate isn't? Should I trust what is on the specs? haha I need a sRGB 100% display!
Pls who is experience this, got my HP envy 2weeks ago and suddenly its just switch off, and does not turn on, and the battery just start discharging. What can one do?
Quick Question ! Are the side speakers on each side of the keyboard fake on all of the models ? If so that stinks because it’s a huge turn off. There’s nothing worse than fake pieces if a product.
Andrew is that have change to review the model with Intel i7-1255u +RTX2050? Interest to compare the CPU performance is that any throttling during intensive workload with Intel version which include the battery life performance. Thx Fans from HK
Hey Andrew, any idea what is the key combination for the "Insert" key? Tried Fn+ other bunch of keys but it looks like it doesn't work in this year's envy x360.
too heavy at 4.2 lbs, also not a fan of the reflective screen, would've preferred a Matte screen, also they should've alternated the USB-C ports on each side which are more relevant now, instead they alternated the USB-A port which makes no sense.
NOVICE QUESTION!! I haven't bought a laptop in yrs. Does anyone here adjust any setting to new laptopsout of the box (what are they) so it could perform better ? If so what should i cuange asap ?? Just like when i get a new phone, I change setting to it to performed faster and smoother. Thanks folks
Based on my experiences so far, Roblox ( I pretty sure other games work too but this is what I play on it) works great. I just got it today so I don’t know much but u can definitely game on it. Hope this help! ❤
It depends on what you are looking for. This has a much upgraded camera, better performance and tighter hinges. Also the OLED option is a big upgrade in terms of the display.
Can I really trust hp laptops don't they have overheating issues ?and their performance drops after a year or so Can someone who actually used a recent high-end model tell me their experience Bec I am torn between hp and Dell ( even though the one I may get at the same price range has lower specs compared to the hp but people told me it will last me longer and will give me a better experience and for your information I am not talking about (Dell Inspiron ) but the latitude serious
What about the hinge??? A lot of people complained about last year hp envy models there hinges were broken ?? What about 2022 model ?? Can you test the hinge quality?
Hi Andrew, which one is the best touchscreen laptop with a 15.6” screen or bigger, that I can use to connect 3 or 4 external monitors in the market? Money is not a problem, so which one is the Best these days? Thanks in advance
Excellent video!. The Envy15 with ew000 I purchased is very similar as video mentioned. Basing on I5 1235u/16G DDR4/512Disk/RTX2050 , it cost 8199RMB or over 1000 $. The laptop's rightside icon are light for thunderblot 4, differ than what you showed in video. Someone told me only extend monitor via HDMI. However , wiring monitor by thunderbolt didn't work. Iam no idea cozed by bad monitor interface or cord. HP technician said, type-c may have problem to connect monitor. sigh.
If they are going to have speakers pointing down, then they at least have to have a couple of speakers that point up. i.e. regular speakers point up, and subwoofers point down. I generally hate laptops with speakers that only point down as it sounds like the audio is coming from behind the laptop as gets muffled.
Just picked this up to replace my 2019 Envy and I've got to say this is quite an upgrade. Display isn't the brightest but same goes for the 2019 envy some tuning in the radeon settings makes it way better though , best used indoors. Other than that , it feels heavier and more premium , lack of number pad sucks but the keyboard feels better. Overall I have to give it a 9/10 , mainly because of the same low brightness screen but for someone who's job is to stare into an IDE all day it's pretty good. If you're a creative though , then the oled would defs be better.
I purchased my HP Envy x360 in Aug. 2022. So, OLED may be wonderful and all, but where do I go on my laptop to determine what type of display feature my laptop has?? Doesn't show anywhere in "System>About" on my laptop. Thanks for the video Andrew!
What are your opinions on OLED long term, i see lot of discussion over how bad it is long term, but it's always about TVs and not laptop monitors. I am unsure about purchasing the new yoga 7 gen 7 amd or the yoga 7 slim pro x (amd)
As an owner of two defective 15.4" envy x360 laptops, I cannot recommend this product. I purchased my first in December, used it for about 8 weeks, and out of nowhere, the screen flipped upside down as if it was in tablet mode. I attempted to reboot it, but the computer never came back on. No LED indicators, no signs of life. Long story: Since it was still under warranty, I called the support center and spent about two hours on the phone before they asked me to send it to their service center for a repair. Two weeks later, I received it back, tried to turn it on, and nothing happened. It was as if the service center did nothing but forward it straight back to me. I sent it back a second time (after another 2 hour call). A week passed, and the tracking information showed that it had never been received. I called them, waited on the phone for the default hour or so, and was assured that they'd received it but the tracking information hadn't been updated. Three weeks passed, and the tracking information never showed received. And I hadn't received any update from HP. Once again, I spent an hour waiting to get someone on the phone, and I finally reached someone who spoke clear English. I asked what happened. The representative said he had "no visibility or contact" with the service center it was shipped to. I asked how it was possible their own service center couldn't contact the other service center. He said he didn't know but that it's always been like that. I received my laptop back about 10 days later in the same condition I'd sent it in the first two times. I got back on the phone explaining how I wouldn't send it in again and that I'd like a replacement or refund. They said they couldn't rebuild it but would send me a similar laptop. They sent me a refurb with slightly better specs. I received it today. Guess what happened when I tried to turn it on. Blank screen (I can't make this up). This replacement/refurb has a different problem than my original. My original shows no signs of life, whereas the replacement unit shows LED power indicators and makes boot noises. Short story: Due to my experience with HP, this product, their service center and their escalation department, I will say that I have no confidence in this company, so buyer beware. HP makes most of its profits from big companies: defense contractors and so forth. So a single individual like myself is not on their radar. If your product works, great. If not, good luck beating the odds!
dont get a junky hp they will have probleys and more problems and fall apart, i went with dell after my second hp that never worked right and repaired and case break and never has been dropped. dell laptops are so much better, even lenovo are well built too.
@@ayod0011 older ones are a lot better think they started getting parts from cheaper company because these new ones any worth a crap, my dad has a older one about 6 or 7 years old too a 17 inch and it’s built like a tank and these new ones feels like a paper toy lol.
be warned... the touchpad is virtually unusable. I reduced tap sensitivity to its lowest setting and it opens anything I hover the cursor over...tried updating driver and no help. Having to carry around a mouse sort of defeats the purpose of having a slim compact laptop.
