If you want to replace parts on a printer, but are afraid to take printer apart, then watch this video. These printers are very easy to take apart and re-assemble. It took me less than 9 minutes. This will be the same process for all HP J4500, J4600, and 4500 Printers. Easily remove parts such as scanner lamp, scanner unit, logic board, control panel, front door, ink carriage unit, timing encoder strip, top adf cover.

This video is very informative and well produced. Only one thing I would like to point out; I have an HP officejet 4500 and removing the top of that printer is not as easy as shown in the video; it is difficult and very tricky to perform. I believe the top of the printer in this video was removed with considerable effort before filming so it look easy to remove when filming.

There’s two baby springs that popped out the printer when I took out the roller part and I don’t know where it goes. Is there any way you can provide some info on where to put the baby springs

Hello and thank you for your super informative video post . I would like to ask you a question about my HP Officejet 4500. I cannot figure out why it simple shuts off without warning after being plugged in and on for about 15 minutes. After the first shutdown it will turn on only after ive unplugged it but will immediately shut back off within one minute. Can you please suggest a fix for this issue? Thank you so much, Priscilla

Vídeo muito explicativo. Desmontei a minha impressora 4580, muito semelhante a esta, para desencravar uma etiqueta autocolante, agora sobrou-me uma mola com 24mm comprimento e 3 mm diâmetro. Os cartuchos batem com muita força do lado esquerdo e continua a dar sinal de papel encravado. Não consegui descobrir o lugar da mola, consegue ajudar-me? Agradeço

Hi. What happened is that your timing strip is out of place. In needs to be put back. The spring goes on one side and and strip stretches from one side of the printer to the other. That is why the printer carrier is hitting walls. It does not have that strip for the sensor to read where to go. The timing strip that I am talking about is clear and is only about 3 mm wide and about 25-30cm long.

@@303electronics thans for your hanswer. but i thik mi strip is fine because i can not put it oder posision can it guet damaged? but I have a spring plus with 24mm long and 3mm in diameter, and i can't find his place. Can you help me to finde his place?

I have a question, I was using my printer but during a paper jam a small wooden cylinder that is about an inch tall. is that a part of this j4580 printer and if so what function does it do. I was trying to fix this my self using your video but i never saw where this random piece could fit in.

Hi, Thank you for a very informative video. I have a J4580, which was working with two "brand X" (non HP) 901 ink cartridges. The black ink ran out, and I could not find compatible, so I was forced to buy an original HP 901-black cartridge. After installing it, the printer refuses to work, and says "cartridge error - tri-color". I tried off/on, cleaning, etc., but it just refuses to work if the color is inside. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Hi. It can be a faulty cartridge. Also, try cleaning the golden contacts on cartridge and in the printer.
