I'm not earning one shiny nickle by saying this, If I had to buy a laptop these days, this model seems like a decent option. Don't get me wrong, "gaming" laptops are a joke next to their desktop counterparts, but I'll always buy a mid-spec "gaming" laptop only for the thermals, even though I wouldn't game in the thing for all the money in the World. I've owned cheap laptops, expensive laptops, and before I bought "gaming" laptops, what always killed them was the HEAT. Laptops are NOT for gaming, but if you need a reliable laptop that won't freaking die on you after a BIOS update - true story -, buy a $1,100 laptop instead of a $700 POS that's going to leave you stranded when you need it most. If you just want peace of mind, a mid-specced "gaming" laptop such as this will last for 5+ years, whereas a cheaper or thinner one will kick the bucket much sooner.
I just had a Acer predator Helios neo 16 die on me 2 days in from a bios and windows update ..spent one grand on this POS... I need portability since I game other places than home ...maybe one of these would be better.
I just subscribed. Great effort, great details and various aspects covered. Give a good info for me who is trying to decide which new laptop to buy.....
Got this on sale for $1100 at best buy, mine came with an AMD 7940HS and 4070. For that price alone it is worth it, not sure I would pay the full retail price for it as you may find better options like one with a better display or a laptop with less fan noise because this thing gets loud. However fan noise doesn't bother me and I am very happy with my purchase, It is a great laptop.
This is what i call a Damn good review! focusing on every aspect of the laptop included the speakers which it took me 30 minutes to reach this video. Thanks
I have the Ryzen version and am having trouble figuring out if I should use the hdmi or one of the usb c ports with dp. Also would it matter which of the the usb c ports I use? Think I saw Jarrod mention that sometimes one port connects directly to the dgpu while the other goes through the integrated. Thanks so much for any help!
For basic editing, the panel here is fine, but I wouldn't do any color-critical work without a properly calibrated external monitor. This is likely a cost-cutting measure as mid/high-refresh, color-accurate laptop panels do exist, though they would certainly drive prices up.
I need an ayudq between the laptop HP omen amd with qhd screen of 300 nits gpu 4070 or the HP omen transcend of qhd 400 nits with gpu 4060 the construction is a little better for the musmo price which would be better
There are some critical negatives to this laptop from HP in my opinion such as the low 299 nits brightness and the 16:9 display ratio. Other than this, it seems to be a fairly good laptop with great 1080p webcam and clear internal mic array. Port selection is also not bad. Audio from the internal speakers is good for a Windows PC. In conclusion, you have to weigh the pros vs the cons and make your own decision. Great review Andrew!! 👏😁
@@Alex.Hilman Great question! I’m assuming you’re comfortable working on the Apple ecosystem? If you are, I would go with Apple, however, just know that you might be paying more than if you went with a Windows system. What you might want to do, if you’re not in a hurry, is to ask Andrew that question next time he goes live.
Do you happen to have a site, google doc, or similar that has all of your laptop ratings broken out? I'm curious to see what the how your review scores could be weighted to help me decide what my #1 laptop would end up being!
Nice gaming laptop. Camera is good. Like the easy access to the inside and also the ability to upgrade ssd, memory and wifi if necessary. Internal layout very similar to the HP Victus I got at Costco. The one thing the Victus has is an additional slot for a second ssd. Keyboard is good although they should have included a full size numpad like on the Victus one of the main reasons I purchased the Victus. I use it for occasional gaming but mainly for Excel and other Office software. By the way Costco is selling the Victus for $300 dollars off this month. I guess at the end of the day it is each to their own. Great review.
It is interesting for HP to release different variants for different markets. The OMEN 16 2023 international variant (called OMEN 9) has a full size numpad, and an extra SSD slot.
Interesting. So low brightness, no IR camera, no SD card reader. Hmmmm…Would be really cool if you’d take a look at the Sony Inzone gaming products. And also connectivity between Xbox Series X and handheld gaming consoles, laptops.
This laptop is great to get work done, it's much better than other hp laptops for that purpose. And it doesn't look like a gaming laptop actually. I would like to buy an amd version of this one, many thanks for the review.
Been using Legion for 5 years, was thinking of buying another legion but the design, the value for money isn't what it used to be. this seems like a better laptop.
Hey i bought a new omen 16 - i7 14700hx with RTX 4070 8gb graphics card- its brand new from HP however, the battery life normal usuage lasted 1 hour and 30-40 mins and light gaming 1 hour and 15 mins is this normal?? I returned the laptop and got another replacement brand new from hp and still the same, it has 165hz display and im trying to understand if its normal or faulty, the laptop both came without charge upon opening the box i had to charge it to run it initially
Sir, personally i always prefer gaming on at least 98% dcip3 colour gamut display. I never suggest anyone to play on 100% srgb as it looks washed out and undersaturated. Over 98% dcip3 displays are good for gaming. I also prefer glossy finish. Matt finish ruins picture quality.
That's not how color gamut works. 100% sRGB is ideal for gaming because games run in the sRGB color space. A 125% sRGB color space would actually oversaturate the sRGB content that you're viewing but would be ideal for working in the DCI P3 color space.
I am new to this channel i never thought someone would do this detailed reviews.great work subbed immediately. Great job ❤.Can u do a review for Rog Strix G17 or G18
I'm between the Omen 16 with I9 13900HX and RTX 4070 8GB, 32 GB RAM and 1TB SSD with a FHD 16:9 screen OR a Lenovo legion 5i pro with I7 13900HX and RTX 4070 8GB, 32 GB RAM and 2TB SSD with a 2K 16:10 screen... Both in similar range of prices. It's gonna be used mainly for professional work (editing videos and photos, motion graphics and 3D) I would really apreciate some advice here
@@nexty10 In the end I bought the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro with the same processor and graphic card but with 16GB and 1TB SSD with the idea of expanding it in the future. Overall it has been a good purchase. The first 2 months I had problems exporting in Premiere, since it did not finish exporting, but it solved itself and now everything is fine.
How do you upgrade the ssd 512gb isn’t enough , does it accept a dual sided 4tb ? How do you clone the 512gb it’s only thing holding me back from getting it
Got one and returned it the same day. Would not connect to WiFi, after reinstalling the WiFi Driver, the and installing the intel “WiFi Driver” card. Should’ve lost hope that while setting up it also lost WiFi connection. Terrible.
Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 Intel Core i7 13th Gen -13700HX Processor VS HP OMEN Gaming Laptop 40.9 cm16 AMD Ryzen™ 7 7840HS Which one is better? please replay 🙂.
My advice: do your research and buy the one with the better motherboard (upgradable RAM is non-negotiable). If they're par, go for the one that has the cheaper replacement parts. Regardless of which one you settle for, discard the factory NVMe drive for an SK Hynix Gold P31 NVMe drive. It's the most recommended NVMe for laptops for a good reason. I hope observations help you make the best decision possible
I am confused between predator helios neo 16 and omen 16 as brightness is low for my taste which is a deal breaker I wanna get strong gaming laptop for university and gaming.
@@mahmoudshehata2001 I went with the predator helios neo 16 and it was the perfect decision for me actually. Has excellent power if I run it it even saver mode it gives 5 hours backup and trust me brightness is not low its really good overall a very good decision I made.
This is the worst service I ever faced. This is the worst laptop I ever bought - Omen 16. I already sent my laptop to the service 3 times, from 8 month owning the laptop, 1,5 it spent in service trips and 3 weeks was not functional due to different issues. At first they changed videocard from 4070 to 4070, than bluetooth stopped working, than wifi and sudden turns off. Just never again.
@@andrewmarcdavid I have a question, do you have the HP OMEN 16 with the ports on the back but on the HP site they do not have them, I do not understand
@@andrewmarcdavid Thats what I'm interested in as well. Also, what are your thoughts on the Omen 17 in relation to the 16? Buying a new Laptop is Rough!!! LOL
Why does the gaming industry make repeated references to DEMONIC influence? Think about the following: 1. RAZER uses 3 snakes as an emblem (Satan tempted Eve in the form of a snake). 2. Hp OMEN: (the Omen movies addresses the rise & fall of the Antichrist) 3. Lenovo LEGION: (LEGION was the name of multiple demons that feared Jesus) 4. First Person Shooters: (Complete rebellion to God’s command “Thou shalt not kill.”) 5. Mortal Kombat’s dragon insignia: (Satan is referenced as a dragon in The New Testament) Even if you do not agree, you have to admit there are multiple demonic references within the industry. One of Satan’s tricks is to deceive you into thinking he doesn’t exist. Please repent of your sin, seek God, and personally accept Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior to save yourself from Hell. I share because I care. ✝️🇺🇸☺️🙏 6. Mortal Kombat: The game design is all about killing others in gruesome ways (serves to desensitize us to violence)
