It can play most any casual game and run video game emulators (I think that's what you're asking). Photoshop would also run ok, though you may notice some lag with intensive image processing for larger sized files.

They sometimes get a bad rap for cooling, but in my experience I've never had too much problem. In fact this HP g6 stays very cool, the fan runs quite frequently which keeps it cool to the touch. You're making a fine choice, good luck with the new laptop!

Haha, RU-vid needs to expand the character limit on comments if you ask me. All great feedback, I think for the money the HP g6-2123us is a nice choice, obviously if you can pay more and afford the Apple MBP that's an even nicer option.

It comes with the Starter Edition of MS Word, but you're limited in what you can do and will be prompted to pay for the full version. So really the answer is no, it does not come with a licensed version of Microsoft Office.

The MacBook Air costs 2 - 3 times as much, it's not really a fair comparison! I guess if you have the money and can afford the MacBook Air go with that, but if you're on a budget the HP g6 will be just fine.

$80 chromebooks are now faster and lighter than this laptop, incredible how time changes.

Essentially any notebook under $400 and that has certain compromises (slower processor, plastic case, lower screen quality) to keep the price lower.

Why HP placed the HDD LED not infront of user's eyes but on the side !!!??? What is the reason to do it so ???? HDD LED activity is very important to be visual on heavy duty jobs and be always visual by the user !!!

It'll run Sims 3 yes, that's not too demanding a game.

You could play games on low settings if you want. Star Wars: The Old Republic for instance plays at around 30 fps on low settings.

What is Your opinion about those HP glare display? Friend of mine bought ASUS K55 ( quite expensive model ) with glare 15,6" and eyes are killing him because reflections and strain to see?!? I want to buy notebook ( Pavilion g6-2220sm ) and I need it for job so I'll use it quite much during day, mostly inside in office with good lighting :/ Should I look for some other brand? Toshiba? i was going to buy hp g7 but i heard that hp computers arent good with cooling, im on a budget so im buying the g6 and a cooling fan instead. Am i making a wise choice? Also i wanted to know what was the difference between the g6 and g7 thnks and great rrview :-)

i like this laptop i have benn using it for 2 months already i like the big screen and at least i didn't have to buy it i got it for free from Telus when it came with my pvr i chose this free gadget instead of the free samsung galaxy tab

They do indeed get a bad rap. I have always had HP notebooks, and I have never had them get very hot. Warm, yes, when doing processor pushing tasks. But certainly not hot to warrant concern. The fans are loud yes, but that's what keeps the unit cool.

Your GPU score is low because its 1X4GB of RAM, so its running single channel. Ifyou have 2x2GB stick running in dual channel your GPU performance would show much higher. Also overall your system would run faster.

can you tell me about the screen quality. you know lots of laptop screen are bit shaky and u need to move around to fit in front of you to watch movie proper. like it seems dark when u bit far from screen or standing anyway can you please tell me is it LED screen and good to watch movies on it or is it rough.

USB 3.0 is a new type of port that offers faster data transfer from an external hard drive for example. Other than that, any device that plugs into a USB 2.0 port can plug into USB 3.0.

The hardware is the same between the Windows 7 version of the g6 and Windows 8 version of the g6, so you could just read reviews about Windows 8 and combine that with reviews of the g6 to get an understanding of the machines capabilities.

I have a feeling ram isn't gonna be your huge concern. you would most likely need a new graphics card.

its pretty cool on i have it its running almost games but not bf3 or bo2 ps3 stuff it PLAYED GTA IV!!

Online casual gaming yes, I don't think it would be a good option for serious MMOs with complex graphics though, you'd need dedicated graphics for that.

You can easily restore an HP laptop to a clean install version of the OS using utilities HP provides. I have a video that shows how to do that, just added to description so try that link.

Relative to what? Fast enough for everyday usage yes, but not as fast as say an HP ENVY dv6 Quad Edition

Go with the HP Pavilion g6-2048ca, it has an AMD A6 which is good and overall slightly better specs than the rest.

It's a Hp pavilion g6-2204ep and has a intel core3 HD4000 and also a AMD Radeon HD 7650 and the problem is that when i'm playing some games like BF3, the game acording it the computer info puts the graphics auto according it the two graphics cards but the pc only uses the HD4000 and i don't know why or how can i make the pc use the AMD Radeon! I actually had this thing for 2 years back from 2012. For the time it was a great low end piece, though the price had much to be desired compared to hp's newest laptops. It's great though that we're seeing even better performance than this machine in a ~250 dollar package.

This laptop is one of the best deals you can get. This baby can run Old Republic on medium settings with decent FPS, which hovers around 30-35. It is surprisingly a decent beast with regards to gaming. A lot of current gen games can be played on low-medium settings. As tubasweb said, the only negative aspect is that it uses a single 4GB Ram chip. 2x2GB chips would be much better, and that is one thing I am going to be doing very soon.
