How to clean the the CPU Cleaning fan on HP Pavilion G6 or G series. The step is the same for all different models, on the G series. Its also, sort of disassembly. As to get to the fan, its a big pain in the (fill the blank ;). Watch it if you're looking for HP G6 DC Jack repair or replacement, as its steps of tearing down is pretty much the same. Same way, if you're willing to replace the keyboard. All in one, how about that :)

Thanks for the video I now realise I gotta pay a professional to do this, as if I'm doing that myself I'll have to buy myself a new laptop wtf

What was the chemical you added to the board before placing the fan in it? And is it compulsory to add it?

I'm guessing that's a heat transfer compound. I know the guys at work use it when attaching heat sinks to components that get warm.

OMG. The whole thing has to be dissassembled. This is terrible. I thought I could do it. But now I realize I can't. I'm very sad. Where on earth am I going to find someone to do this for me? Deeply sad. Thanks for the upload though, because I now know not to touch it myself...🤥

can you please say? I have the same laptop with intel i5. I want to do little bit of gaming. So which cpu should I buy to upgrade that is compatible?

An a6 is what came with mine which is able to run league of legends at around 30 to 40 frames which is playable for me. When the game starts I get 80 fps but you need to upgrade it to an ssd. You can upgrade your processor to either the a6 or a8 processor

Do you really have to disassemble the whole thing just to get to the fans??

Yes, completely ridiculous rigmarole compared to the 2 minutes needed on an IBM or Dell laptop of the same era.

This would take me hours if not days...and it's to much of a risk considering it's my dads laptop lol. I was thinking about cleaning the fan, adding more RAM and an SSD. I guess it's better to take it to a repair shop.

@@EasyFixLaptop Yes I just did it and it may seem super complicated but it's really just a series of steps. This IS an old system but when turned on, fans running like crazy and temps were in the 180 F range. Took it apart (and it did take me a while) but I cleaned the cpu and applied new thermal paste and it's running much cooler and quieter. Don't give up just take your time. Thank you for the input.

Cleaning the CPU fan is a 2 minute job on an IBM or Dell. 20 minute full teardown on a HP. Ridiculous rigmarole. Will never buy HP again.
