Really informative and super detailed video! but i want to ask something, from your guide you removed some cables to apply the thermal paste, is it possible to apply the thermal paste while not touching any of the base/factory cable management or atleast only slightly move them? i am planning to re-apply my thermal paste some time and i have really poor cable management(im too afraid to pulling and removing cables)

Hi, thanks for the assembly video, it helped a lot I was thinking of replacing the thermal pad alongside repasting I checked on the comment section, you said 0,5mm and 1mm So i was wondering which was the correct size? Or are they different size on certain areas? Much aprreaciated
@uFixTek
@uFixTek Год назад
Thank you for your feedback! If you'd like to support the channel, you can like, subscribe, or do both. Regarding your question, Thermal pads can be stacked without losing performance, so I recommend getting 0.5mm thickness. If you come across an area that is thicker, simply double up on the pads. We have opened many of the same models and have come across different reversions of heatsinks that use both 0.5mm and 1mm thickness pads. It's very noticeable, so just add double the pads where you see fit. a very good pads: amzn.to/3JZfIZm Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me.
@albertputra6220
@albertputra6220 Год назад
@@uFixTek thank you for the swift response The heatsink model i have is the same as the video above, regarding stacking thermal pad, i read online some cases, it loses the thermal conductivity, is it true? since you did many repair, i assume you knew more and tested it yourselves, or it is better to get both 0,5mm and 1mm? how about the hardness rating? Is it important? Like gp ultimate is much more stiffer and not suited to apply in laptop? Thanks you, sorry for asking a lot.
@uFixTek
@uFixTek Год назад
I have been doing this for over 17 years and have tested many ways. What people don't realize is the simple physics behind Thermal Conductivity (W/mK). Let me explain briefly: If you go to any thermal pad brands, in the description, they will mention the Thermal Conductivity (W/mK). For instance, if the Thermal Conductivity is listed as 12 W/mK, it means it's based on the thinnest pads (0.5mm). If you use a thicker pad, such as 1mm, you won't get the same Thermal Conductivity of 12 W/mK. Instead, you'll get around 9 W/mK. Even if you stack two 0.5mm pads, you'll still get the same performance of 9 W/mK. Similarly, if you use a 3mm pad from the same 12 W/mK brand, you'll get a Thermal Conductivity of 5 W/mK. We have tested this many times, and we always lose Thermal Conductivity not because of stacking but because of the thickness and pressure of the materials. Pressure plays a significant role in Thermal Conductivity. For example, if you apply a good amount of force to squeeze the pad, you'll get a better Thermal Conductivity because you're compressing the 2mm pad to 1mm. I hope I was able to explain it clearly. We have a background in electronics and physics, and at the end of the day, you don't have to worry about the Thermal Conductivity of the components, they don't need to go subzero :P and they will be fine with staking or not, you killing your self over nothing my friend .

Hi I have a problem with my laptop fans. After changing thermal paste and cleaning the fans, the fans are running at high speed, especially the CPU fan. I checked temperatures and cpu usage. Everything looks good. After disabling "Fan always on", the fans lower the temperature and stop spinning completely. This was not same before replacing the cleaning and thermal paste. As the temperature dropped they slowed down, they didn't stop spinning completely.

Great video. Very thorough and helpful. This will be the first time I add thermal paste to my laptop. I just have some question: •I've heard the Arctic paste can be a bit runny. Should I shake it or squeeze out a small amount before applying to my cpu and gpu? •Could I apply the paste without stripping the copper coat first? Or is this a very important step? •I've seen numerous videos stating that it doesn't matter how you apply the paste. They advise people not to use an excessive amount or too little. Would it be alright to use the "X" application method as oppose to your pea shaped method, or should I follow your application steps exactly? Thank you again.
@uFixTek
@uFixTek 2 года назад
Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P regarding your question: 1. the ORIGINAL Arctic paste its runny a bit, we usually when you open the syringe for the 1st time, always let out a small amount of the drop. no need to shake or anything. BUT i would recommend highly to go with :thermal grizzly kryonaut extreme, as its a bit more expensive but you get that extra benefit :P amzn.to/3rnMJVF and no need to clean the 1st drop. it goes on directly. 2. its a absolutely not that important to clean the heat-sink coating, but for those fanatics sure. 3. this GPU and CPU don't have IHS, its direct dye , so no need to X shape or spread, JUST place a fair amount of paste ( drop) on GPU , and a line on CPU. the paste is not conductive and trust me i do this for living for over 18years and follow my method and you will be more than fine. if you applying for PC CPU with IHS then follow any of this steps: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GgXVw0M2ch0.html if you have any other question anything you can ask me in the comments.

In that case, I would recommend purchasing two sheets of the 0.5mm thermal pads. Use a single 0.5mm pad where needed, and for areas requiring 1mm, simply stack two 0.5mm pads together. Thermal pads are designed to be 100% stackable without any loss in performance.

Actually can you just remove the fans and clean them without changing the thermal paste
@uFixTek
@uFixTek 5 месяцев назад
Actually, the fans are located beneath the heatpipe, which requires removing several screws to access. Attempting to remove the fans without disturbing the heatpipe can be challenging. The process might apply undue stress, potentially bending the pipe. Moreover, it's highly likely that this action could compromise the integrity of the existing thermal paste. Given these risks, I'd recommend taking the opportunity to apply fresh thermal paste-it's a small step that could significantly enhance your device's thermal performance. However, if you prefer to proceed with just cleaning the fans, I genuinely hope it works out well for you. Best of luck, and cheers! 🍻

Hi man, I changed the factory thermal pads with Arctic ATP2560. Since I bought it I have had a lot of problems with Thermal Throttling and Power limit. I changed the thermal paste but there was no progress. I decided to change thermal pads and paste (Arctic MX-4). I replaced everything, but again with undervolt I can't reach normal temperatures under intense load. I came across a topic where it is about the same laptop, more precisely the same specifications but with 15C less... Am I doing something wrong or is the problem in the heatsink? Incorrect thickness of thermal pads leads to uneven temperature... I bought thermal pads of different thicknesses, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mm I didn't use 0.5 at all because I think they are too thin. But I noticed how the original pads are pressed into the chips unlike the Arctic, could this mean they don't have enough contact at all or? And yes, when I was assembling the heatsink, I found out that the protective plates do not fit very easily. As if the heatsink was lifted, all the screws were tightened to the maximum. I can send you the pictures of what I have done. Thanks !
@uFixTek
@uFixTek Год назад
Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P regarding your question: The issue you are experiencing with your device may be caused by a defective heatsink. Many of these models have been reported to have unbalanced heatsinks, which can lead to overheating and other performance issues. In order to resolve this problem, it is recommended that you replace the heatsink with a new one. Alternatively, you can use a high-quality thermal paste, such as Arctic Silver 5, to improve the thermal conductivity between the heatsink and the CPU, and thus helping to dissipate heat more effectively. amzn.to/3JuNgi6

Hello bro, after repasting, i see my ingame performance going bad, the temps are good but now the GPU its only using max about 20% and the CPU its 97/100%, i used Kryonaut Thermal Grizzly. I see one of the thermal pads that was broke, or damaged, can it be the problem, and why? can’t play any game after repasting 😭
@uFixTek
@uFixTek Год назад
Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P regarding your question: your issue is not the repaste, go to BIOS (power on and keep tapping on ESC key) and choose bios setup and look for dedicated GPU and enable it. the issue is that your GPU is deactivated. also before all this power off the laptop and power on with charger plugged in and test. don't plug the charger if you powered on with battery only, sometimes the bios will activate the GPU with charger plugged in, because the battery can't provide the amp that requires for GPU to work at its best. so power on with charger plugged.

in your task manager you see the GPU?
@Heinrixch
@Heinrixch Год назад
@@uFixTek Yes bro, in task manager sometimes it goes to 100% but in 1 sec, goes to 0%. While playing, CPU uses above 80%, Intel UHD graphics uses about 30% but my Dedicated GPU its only about 8%. I updated drivers, config NVIDIA panel, and everything possible by Software :/

Как смазать петли у этого ноутбука?...How do I lubricate the hinges on this laptop?...Thank you...
@uFixTek
@uFixTek 3 года назад

Thank you! for the feedback and your support to the channel by SUB :P regarding your question: the bios cmos battery on this motherboards are a using capacitors,a nd the source is the internal battery, to reset the BIOS, remove the internal battery and press and hold the ON button for 3min (60sec minimum) but for most 3min worked, this way the capacitors will discharge.
