Cutting a BEST A2 SFIC 7pin Key on a HPC 1200. I didn't do any editing with this video. The GoPro I use has issues with the microphones. There's 5 of them and when I use the protective case it interferes and causes weird volume issues (too muted or too loud). Editing requires transferring from one device to another for editing then back again then uploading. I was able to do this all in one take. The video is self explanatory. If you have any questions please do let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for making another video. I got lucky with an A2 Blue Punch on ebay for about half price. If you do any volume at all on any keyway that a Blue Punch exists for, the speed and accuracy make them well worth it. The HPC 1200 is definitely stupid easy to use, but the Framon stays accurate for years and recalibrating is quick and easy unlike the 1200. A trick I do for making the Framon easier to use, I print the pages I frequently use, so I don't have to flip through the book to find Kwikset every time, and then next to each cut depth on the book, like for a cut that needs to be .282, I write whatever that equates to on the wheel, next to the cut depth, e.g. 282-50 on the wheel = 32, so I don't have to do the math on the fly, I only need to make sure my pointer is between 250 and 300 and spin to 32.

Great ideas! Surprised these isn’t stuff 3D printed for Framon 2 to make it easier for the d/s’s. I get lost with the dial graduations if I’m not paying attention. Thanks for watching!

Definitely have to have an accurate calibrated machine to cut BEST keys on a HPC 1200. If you’re doing a lot of BEST keys I suggest getting a Pro-loc blue bunch machine.

That blue punch is the machine I eventually want to get. It’s just out of my price range right now🤣. I calibrate this machine quite often but it’s never that far off. Thanks for watching!

@@odinslockllckeep an eye on marketplace. So far I’ve managed to snag a Best, Schlage and just recently a Kwikset blue punch for between 500-600 each.

Don’t have the blue punch or 1200. Guess I’ll have to ‘settle’ for using my Framon #2. 😂

Framon KX1 is a great tool for specific keyways. You can replace the S&D sets with other brands but I use it on my KABA peaks never had to recalibrate in years! I have a few Best original punches A2 and A4 they work great but $4k for a dedicated punch machine??...ouch!!! Equipment is a great investment IF it makes you $$$$ ROI

Yeah might spend a few hundred for a dedicated unit but not a few thousand. I’ve had the IC punch dies for my Pakapunch but never found them to be accurate enough to rely on them. Those blanks are just too expensive to waste on miscuts so I traded them to another locksmith for sc1 punch dies. I also had a kaba exacta MK2 punch with the IC setup a few years back with an employer and that was at a “decent” price then but they’re obsolete too and hard to find. I’ll find a bargain someday but I don’t do enough BEST A2 to feel a need to make a big purchase. I’ve been reinvesting in the capability to do IC lately and thought it would be fun to brush over doing these vids for the “what we already have available” type folks. Thanks for watching!

I'm thinking by looking at your BEST blanks, are they JMA? I had a box of either ILCO (pretty sure they were ILCO) but may have been BEST blanks. They had a bit more meat on the bottom edge (10% more as a matter of fact) and those stay in the A vise with no wobble. I needed to add $10 to an order to get free shipping and thought (reluctantly) I'd just throw some JMA blanks on the order. Yes, with a shim behind them and held in the A jaw I can cut them...but it's a 3rd experience with JMA that reminds me why I still buy ILCO.

My blanks are ilco. They were 1.38 ea. but I picked them up at local supplier and saved myself from paying shipping lol.

@odinslockllc OK, that explains it...I must have had Best blanks. They were an odd keyway, I don't recall which one. I had them 8 to 10 years...stuff changes. Take care I hope the engine swap is done and went smooth.

Old 3 card says 14MC cutter newer card C3 says 90MC cutter. You said you used the 14MC cutter. Are there any advantages to using either one? I think the 90MC would be better like for example if you have a 1 cut next to a 9 cut it wouldn't be as wide on the 9 cut. It is confusing as older card says use 14MC newer card says use 90MC.

Either cutter will work. The land (flat) is the same at .046” but the angle on the 14MC is 100degrees vs 90degrees on the 90MC. So the 90 is a narrower root opening. Personally a steeper slope imo would cause accelerated wear, but that’s jmo. Sfic uses a smaller diameter pin so there is quite a bit of room for error and with sfic, MACs isn’t an issue with the standard d/s… Thanks for watching!

@@odinslockllc Thanks for the information. Good video. I have the older 1200cm prefer it over the newer blitz 1200cmb as it doesn't tend to move the knobs when cutting.
