This needs to stop at our airlines. Airlines should stop selling one way tickets to Hawaii, unless you can provide proof of residency/ job lined up/ retuning local/ etc. homeless people flying over here needs to be stopped!
My dad worked in downtown Cleveland,OH for some 25-30 years. One day there was a homeless woman asking for money. He decided to help her and take her to a shop and buy her lunch. Her response - “I don’t eat here.” Her promptly said goodbye to her. There are people begging for money at so many interstate off ramps and intersections near where I live. I ignore them. Where I live at least, there are places they can go for help. They are choosing not to.
If not the Beach they will be Camping out side of your House,, there going to be there tomorrow and the day after,,not going no where 😮..# Homeless ppl ..
If other states can send their homeless . Should be after 3 recorded warnings . The state should buy an airfare ticket even if they are from here . Let another state hopefully help them turn their life around . We do not have the facilities to care for them and we have such limited land . Shoveling them around is not working , we need a firmer approach with consequences . That one way ticket may inspire locals to get their act together .
Does Honolulu plan on building shelters for the homeless? Some of them would rather have a place to sleep. The private sector makes billions, yet complains, not in our city. To what end?
There are shelters. Problem is homeless don't want to use them. There are rules to follow like curfews, no drugs or alcohol, there are bed bugs (of course there's bugs outside too), and there can be violence. And many of our homeless are mentally ill and suspicious of people so they won't go to shelters. I'm retired now, but I worked as an advocate for years. It's sad to see that not much has changed.
