Yes it is a private institute - the only downside with the downtown campus is that you will be dealing with homeless(a lot) people on a daily basis. There is no gym on campus and the nearest gym is 24hr fitness. Scooters are the preferred method of travel along with bikes. Parking is a nightmare if you want to drive and will cost almost as much as your tuition. The Hawaii Loa campus is about 30min from the downtown campus.
HPU should show a video of students and their perspective of the university or at least make a video with students that look like they're not just doing this against their will.
My cousin went to HPU. She loved it, but got messed up with the wrong people. She started dating a street performer who gave her HIV. She graduated college, but is now living in a van on the North Shore. She sells painted shells to buy food. I liked visiting her in college. HPU students are a unique bunch.
