I'm a black guy now in love with country music cuz of this dude lmao! His songs on the CMA led me to him, and then I was done in by "Sometimes I Cry" and "Barely alive", now I'm hooked. ! Good grief this man can saaaang! Whose listening to this in 2015??? Me!!
White girl here but was black in another life cuz I LOVE me some true bluesy soul music!!! Music in that u actually feel in your soul...this dude gives me chills. Takes me to church!!! Wow!!!!
+Josey Whales My experience exactly. Though to myself recently "I need new music, and Country is totally untapped for me. Should give some a chance." Next week, this cat takes the stage on CMA... addicted.
+Michael Kopysh My experience except for the black part that is. I'm a white guy who never gave country a chance beyond Old Crow Medicine Show. That's changed.
+Josey Whales - I listened to the whole Traveler album and "Whiskey and You" had me in a heap on the floor. Just a guitar and his voice conveying such hurt. It reminded me of Otis Redding singing "I've Been Loving You Too Long." Not the sound, obviously, but the ability of a voice to convey such a depth of feeling. I'm not huge into country but Chris Stapleton is my new fave artist.
Tammy Rogers is the fiddle player. She is amazing, one of Nashville's best...so that makes her one of the best anywhere. She is a class lady making some sweet string music!
Like so many before me, I never heard of the Steeldrivers but after listening to Adele's London performance I wanted to check out the original. Indeed, they rock big time and know how to touch someone heart.
Bluegrass is country without the drums. It feels cleaner, purer and actually much hipper. This guy has a brand new hundred year old voice that sounds so fresh because you've heard it before and it feels so comfortable. He's an outstanding song writer too. Huge talent. So happy people are finding out about him.
I too heard about this band thru ´Adele` and man was I pleasantly surprised. I am not really into countrymusic, but this band rocks me of my feet, they are really something else......
A bloke will go to extremes for love. I know I will for my love. What ever it takes for as long as it takes. I grew up as a boy listening to this style of music but it was mainly gospel music but in this style. :o)
Just discovered this guy. Will go nice in my collection, next to Jamey Johnson,Whitey Morgan, and Sturgill Simpson. This is What I have been missing in country music. Thumbs up.
Who cares who sang it better. its one thing to sing a melody that has already been written, its another thing to write something from scratch. Adelle is an entertainer for the nullified minds of the mob. these guys are full blooded, genuine musicians.
Good news for CHRIS STAPLETON fans! Today is February 18, 2019 and CHRIS STAPLETON is the # 1 Country Artist according to BILLBOARD. No bias they just crunch numbers. Of course he left the Jompson Brothers to pursue a solo career otherwise he wouldn't be singing Country! If you love TRADITIONAL COUNTRY as I do please buy CHRIS STAPLETON'S music and request his songs be played on the radio or any Country Artist that you think is a TRADITIONAL COUNTRY SINGER. The powers that be are trying to replace TRADITIONAL COUNTRY with Bro Country or Country Pop if you will. I equate that with Disco. I wad born in 1957 and suffered through the Disco years. Disco sucked then and still sucks. That's what I think about BRO COUNTRY or COUNTRY POP. Let's save TRADITIONAL COUNTRY !
Great(Tremendous) interpretation(performance), too cool, in my favorites(whiskers), to change nothing thank you has you too nice kisses of France I hope to see you live in France there
Great song and that gal can fiddle! It's the song I play over and over from Adele's concert. Wanted to hear the original that she loved so much. Doubt anyone could ruin such a fabulous song ~ both versons are just terrific!
Awesome to meet a song for the first time that just hits you square in the chest, head, heart, wherever. I'd not even heard the Adele version (I have now). Just fab, and it's opened the door to lots more Chris Stapleton stuff I can discover....
Christine Huff I had RU-vid on autoplay while sleeping. This song came on and knocked me out of a dead sleep. I had never heard anything like it! I've listened to them every singlr day and or night since. This and Burnin the Woodshed down are my favorites. All of them have talent beyond words.
Thats what ya wont right there!!! Hot damn that chris Stapleton can sang!!!! Real music people! 36 dislikes really? Please dont listen to music ever again if u dont respect that! Find another hobby music isnt your thing
I first heard this song a month or so from the time of this posting, and I am not sure the last time I had ever been so moved by a recording. This song and performance speak volumes that I cannot even produce the proper descriptive words for.
Sure wish Chris could have stuck around you folks made some great music together. Thanks the for the Show at the Arden theatre. Remember to keep those passports up to date. lol
His name's Chris Stapleton, he left a few years ago and has been doing some solo stuff and founded a rock band called the jompson brothers, check him out, everything he touches is gold
Let me first say Adele is an amazing vocalist, and I was thrilled to hear that she had covered this song. But nothing can take the place of those good ol' Tennessee bluegrass harmonies! Great song to play out live as well! Always a huge hit at any open mic.
It’s so hard to realize that no one noticed how gifted Chris is I don’t socialize much but is just the best with every song he does he’s graceful and blessed or would have just kept my mouth shut
Heard Adele give props to the steel drivers when she sang this on her live at the royal albert hall dvd.Came to check them out.Nice, and i think Adele did them justice with her version.
