That half step stutter just after @4:40 is the stuff my soul is made of. I don't know why I love it so fucking much, but damn it might be my favorite part of the song. This song has etched itself into the recesses of my heart, driving home from Odesza at 4AM in Seattle, rain pouring through the darkness. In those moments, the precious few they are, I feel most alive.

Sometimes I dream that we get A Color Map of the Stars, and then I wake up. Towards the end of the CMOTS tour, I could see that Derek was deeply unwell; I honestly expected to read that he’d OD’ed and died every day from 2012 until now. But he’s still there, I just pray that one day he starts producing the music we know he’s capable of again.
