I work security at a mall and one of the really nice restaurants in the front had a customer call and ask if he left his wallet there. The managers told him that them that they couldn't find it and gave his phone number to security. I was the one mediating because on my shift there isn't supervisor and we always changed up who had the phone. I just so happened to have it that night. I informed the man that he should call the card companies about any transactions. He gets a hit and we roll back the cameras. His waiter stole his wallet after he left it there and bought hundreds of dollars worth of mall gift cards and gave them to store employees. Found out later she did all this because the guy didn't tip.

I worked for a mid-sized accounting firm, for the first couple years they didn't have an HR Department, just a couple people that handled HR matters, eventually they grew large enough to create a formal HR Department. My job at the time required me to travel around the country doing audit work, because of that I missed some "mandatory" training, got a nasty letter from HR informing me I was immediately suspended without pay for "noncompliance" until a hearing on the matter could be scheduled. I forwarded the email to the owner of the firm (which happened to also be a close friend and the guy who had hired me.) His response which he CC'ed Human Resources on was short and too the point "No you're not. Thanks for all you do." Never heard another thing about it.

Bartended for 6 years... the person that commented on the guy being fired for stealing the bottle of grey goose was spot on. Refilling a liquor bottle with anything (water or even the same liquor: ex. taking two bottles half full and consolidating to make one full bottle ) can/will lead to your liquor license suspended/confiscated. This is usually handled at the states LCB level but can be upgraded to include ATF. Any owner of a bar will drill this into any employees they hire due to what's potentially at stake. So the fact that the OP thought there was a reality where it was perfectly fine to refill a liquor bottle with water for display purposes means there's a very high likelihood the story is fiction. He probably only said Grey Goose cause it was the most expensive liquor he could think of. Further supportive circumstantial evidence... No bar owner in their right mind would risk loss of license and major fines to refill a Grey Goose bottle that still looks exactly the same whether it's full of water, Grey Goose, or empty. Considering both water and the vodka is clear.

I was once reported to HR twice by outside interlopers for sexual harassment / creating a hostile environment. Once was when we were talking about the previous weekend where we all went out to our favorite bar, which was named Third Base, and how we took a female coworker to a hotel afterwards to sleep off the booze. The other time was shortly after when I asked another coworker if they had seen my dongle for installing some software. It was completely innocent and no innuendos were intended on our part. Luckily the HR dept was pretty understanding about the whole thing after I showed them the website for the bar, my big book of dongles in my cube (and the definition of the word) and how the coworker didn’t want to get a DUI for driving 30miles while pissed faced drunk and had planned ahead for this outting with the hotel (we walked her there so she didn’t have to go it alone). I really didn’t like the treatment I got from other departments after that, though.

Many years ago, I received a phone call from another supervisor, crying, informing me that our subordinate, Jenny, was killed at a gas station when she was struck by a truck while filling up her car. I was told that her sister called and informed the store that she was dead. I immediately identified two problems with this scenario: she didn't have a sister, only an adult son who lived with her, and that she didn't have a car and took the bus. When I pointed this out, I was immediately called a monster and said I had no soul and was a pariah for a week. No local news surfaced about this accident either. I didn't buy it. The store held a memorial and took up a collection for her son and "sister" and corporate was involved. Well, after this week all this mourning and hating on me, Jenny shows up for work. She called in her own death as her "sister" because she thought it would be funny. She didn't understand why the regional vice presidents of operations and human resources who were there finalizing the donations terminated her on the spot.

I once called HR because my boss at my first real job threw empty food cartons at us and trashed the site. All of this was due to us not being at the sample cart in a dead mall with only 20 people walking around at night, and instead stayed in the store and helped the people who came in. HR didn't do anything, because he was friends with the higher ups. Yet I was given a write up for "not taking out a trash can one day". And was essentially given the ultimatum of either keeping my job title and take the write up, or be demoted. That's illegal as fuck, yet they got away with it.

Where I currently live is Pahrump a small town near to Las Vegas(State of Nevada, Nye county and the only supposed county where prostitution is legal and Las Vegas is illegal to prostitute because is in Clark county). I learned that HR's from many companies are not going to make a workers rights a priority to protect and them and resolve any unfair treatment from staff in a higher position or staff that has been there longer than a new employee. Only because I don't have a certificate that says I have the skills of a professional handyman and I am not a regular labor, it doesn't mean I am a regular worker that can only perform a low position labor duties... BUT, here in town its a very regular unethical nasty habit for employers to ask you what are your skills and during interviews after going through the job application that has been filled out giving them an idea of what you are going to say regarding your skills they will double ask you what you know and then tell you that your pay will depend on how fast, the amount of different tasks you can perform, and your efficiency is after doing so. Ok, so then... why in the fμ¢k do u ask me what are my skills and my knowledge when I clearly described them in the job application I filled out and specially mentioned that I don't have a certificate just like many licensed business out here that have a foreman, manager and other higher position employees in charge of tasks that I have proven to do better than their foreman's in many different times and companies. Why tell an employee he will be paid depending on their performance when they can't afford to pay a person applying for labor that can be assistant manager performing Labor and foreman tasks. Please don't ask for my knowledge and feel like I'm going to embarrass myself when the outcome will be me shutting up your mouth, hurting your ego, and making you look stupid, then after that never ask me to do tasks you know I'll perform without a problem and think I'll do them, well your fμ¢kiΠg stupid because I was giving a labor's pay and position, its not my responsibility to do other people's work. Ok? People have shit in their brains nowadays, do you as an employer or a person that has the duty to hire people, do you think that a stupid certificate that says someone is qualified will really be what that piece of paper says they are??? Ur answer is NOPE and ALSO THINKING THAT THERE'S NOT A PERSON THAT WILL TELL YOU THE TRUTH IN YOUR FACE BECAUSE NOWADAYS EVERYBODY LIES ABOUT THEIR SKILLS MAKING YOU THINK THAT PERSON WILL TELL YOU LIES AS WELL DOES NOT APPLY TO ME, I WILL SHIT IN YOUR FACE AND IN YOUR HOUSE FOR THINKING I AM LESS THAN U AND THAT I'M NOT CAPABLE OF PERFORMING ANY WORK'S TASK I AM ASKED TO DO, SIMPLY IF I DON'T GET PAID FAIRLY I WILL ONLY HONOR MY HOURLY PAY AND WORK AT A RITHM THAT IS FAIR FOR MY PAY. Employers need to take lessons on how to be a coherent manager or whatever they are to actually have an idea on giving orders, and the lessons should be once a week for the whole time they are employers and employees should be informed next day if their employer attended to the lessons or not, if not then they deserve a punishment for being irresponsible employers. * MORONS=PRESENT EMPLOYERS

I worked at a tech company. It started out as a carrier but morphed into a network management company and ended up building a centralized corporate operating system that handled everything from inventory to customer relations/orders to payroll. Everything. Because nothing existed that we could use at the time. Eventually everything was completed so the need for programmers, coders and developers ended and they started laying off those types as they were no longer needed in such quantities. One of the developers was being let go so HR called him in for a conference/exit interview. HR placed a recorder on the table and pushed the record button. He whipped out his phone and put it on the table. They asked him what he was doing and he said if they could record the meeting he could too. They told him he couldn't. He asked where that was written. They couldn't find where it was specified and promptly ended the meeting. They went round and round for about 6 weeks and finally let him go without a meeting. In the mean time with the warning he was able to find a job in a different company and made a seamless transition into his new job.

I was a pipefitter/welder and I got to the point where I would not recommend anyone for a job because too many times the person didnt work out. Example; Good friend, we will call him Cheech, talked me into getting him a job as a pipe helper on a shutdown. They gave Cheech to me and I put him to work cleaning fittings. After a while he disappeared but I figured the foreman had needed him some where else. Four hours later the foreman asked me where ole Cheech was at and I said I thought he had come got him. Foreman said nope and that he thinks he is passed out in a port-a-john. I just groaned and told the foreman I was sorry for asking them to hire Cheech and I would take care of the problem. So I went over to the port-a-john, opened the door and sure enough theres Cheech, head slumped, needle hanging out of his arm and the other things he used to do what he did. I finally got him to wake up and told him to get on the golf cart with me. As we headed to the gate I told him to call someone to come pick him up because he was fired. He got mad at me for not clocking out and driving him home in my truck. That was the last time I recommended someone for a job. From then on I might tell them a name but I wouldnt vouch for them and it was up to the company if they hired the person

Had an amazing cashier, always took on extra roles, he was everyone's (supervisors and management's) favorite cashier, a horrible cashier started complaining about him, we investigated but never came up with anything and passed it off as the complainer lying again (she was always lying, obvious lies, then would deny making the lie), at one point I had to help at another store for a few months and when I came back both were gone, she had been fired for poor performance and he had been fired because he had been stealing tobacco and alcohol, he was drinking stolen liquor on the clock, the only one who had caught on was the cashier who cried wolf (she was still the worst lol)

An employee at a factory was in sanitation. He was supposed to clean equipment with harsh chemicals to eliminate germs. Took 3 times as long to clean anything. Wasn't lazy, just slow and incompetent. Bosses get frustrated because they didn't have a good reason to fire him. The CEO and several potential customers came to do a tour of the plant. He foamed the group with chemicals during the tour. Reason to fire him received. Plant manager got his ass chewed out big time.

Not exactly he, but my dad was reported to his dormitory’s head for being “racist”. The fact was they had an exchange student from an under developed country in africa (this was around the 60s and 70s). The guy wanted to cook some beef and had seen people use the shared toaster in the shared kitchen and had tried to cram the minced beef into it. My dad had stopped him and said “no no. That’s for bread only. Here, use the stove.” And proceeded to show the guy how it worked, pan and all, before the guy proceeded to turn on a hot plate and flopping the beef onto it (no pan included). He broke my dad when someone complained about smoke coming from the guys room and they discovered that he had made a fire pit inside his private room (these rooms were not big. Think only room for a single bed, book case and desk. That it. Apparently my dad was racist because he told him you can’t build fire pits inside and was picking on him for being black. Needless to say, my dad was no punished for this.

Not on the spot, but the same day. Was in training for a tech support position with Brother International electronics a few years ago. A lot of my fellow trainees had experience with AT&T's tech support center (relevant shortly). This one girl, W, decided to argue with the trainer, S, who was a chill, if not mildly weird (hippie) Army vet when we started software training. We'd started a short unit on wireless setup options, and W said something contradictory to what we were being taught and wouldn't back down when S tried to correct her. He pulled her into a small classroom/storage room and tried to have a convo about just learning what he was teaching and using prior experience later. She exited the room, visibly despondent and passively defiant. The hiring/floor manager, B, called W into his office, and she did not finish training. Sucked because she was one of the top 5 of the 20 or so of us.

Had this military officer come to my cubicle and ask me why I "warranted" a high-speed printer. At that exact moment (incredible timing) I heard the click signifying that a transcribed batch was coming from the contractor, and typed documents started spewing out of the printer at a furious rate. The printer printed a stack of documents 5 inches high, then stopped. I looked at the officer and said, "That's why." He got the message and never bothered me again. I also shared a cubicle with the local fax machine, and people seemed to think that it was my job to do their faxing. I refused, as it wasn't my job to do everyone's faxing just because the fax machine and I were roommates. As I told people, "If the hospital commander can do his own faxing (he did), so can you." I had to give a few people lessons on how to fax, because I refused to accept "I don't know how to do it!" as an excuse for someone else to dump their work on me, as I had plenty of my own to do.
