Hradec Králové is a legendary beautiful city and the capital of the Hradec Králové Region in czech republic with 93,000 happy people and drunk students as it is an university city.
In translation Hradec Králové means the Castle of the queen. It refers to a time when polish princess Elisabeth Richeza of Poland (1286-1335) get married to Wenceslaus II nd.
She loved this city and she transformed it into a center of culture and art. The city center is really beautiful with a monumental gothic cathedral of holy spirit and white tower.
Cathedral of holy spirit is seat of the current bishop. It is a gothic Basilica with two towers and also it is the only middle age church in the city as other churches were destroyed to built a fortress around the city.
White tower is the tallest building in the city and offers great views
Another monument that you have to see is a East Bohemian Museum or Muzeum východních čech in Hradec Králové. Most of the exhibited items in the museum are gifts from common folks from the city. There are for example items from famous czech writer božena němcová or some tools to torture people.
As you can see the city is really colorful and prety but the only pity is that the rest of the main square looks like a big parking lot.
Best things to do in the city is watching Nitra playing in the water with other beavers and animals. And watching ducks in the lake.
