Julie Morrison is from the Gitxsan Nation House of xGwoimtxw, and holds the traditional name of Guusagetxw.
She joined the FNHA in 2017 and has served the First Nations Health Authority in several capacities including crisis response advisor, deputy director for emergency operations during the 2017 wildfires, health emergency manager-leading the team’s pandemic response in our northern communities-and most recently as the vice president of regional operations for the North. Through this work she has seen how resilient our people are and how our communities’ natural leaders and helpers have emerged during times of need.
Before joining the FNHA, Julie worked in progressively more senior health and community leadership roles including Health Director and Elected Chief in her community.
Julie holds a Bachelors’ of Arts degree, a Bachelors of Education degree and a Masters of Education in Counselling.
As a wife with three daughters and two grandsons, Julie enjoys spending time in her traditional territory and learning more about her Gitxsan culture.
