Spending a sunny day with my nephew is always a delightful adventure filled with laughter, curiosity, and cherished memories. As the golden rays of the sun embrace us, we embark on a journey of exploration and bonding, discovering the Darjeeling town and reveling in each other's company.
The day begins with excitement bubbling in the air as we drove from Rose Bank to Darjeeling town which is a 15 min drive over the famous victoria bridge.
The day was pretty hot, and as we reached the town, it was teeming with people from all walks of life like usual.
As we snaked our way through the bustling and at times overwhelmingly thick crowd, we finally took a breather as we reached Kaventer's. There was this young busker krumping. The excitement in ny nephew's eyes was pretty palpable. He wanted to join the busker but was little hesitant.
But after little bit of coaxing, he caved in.
Hridhan, my nephew danced his heart out. I was proud of this lad.
After that we both suddenly felt pangs of hunger, so rushed to Gelenary's.
My nephew is a pizza freak, ordered a cheese pizza for him. But I had no idea about the food I am gonna, so just ordered a beef sandwich.
Bring me the world's best delicacy, but for me it would still be second to momo.
After our lunch we headed to the quintessential Chowrasta , which was not surprisingly bustling with tourists.
I wanted to take my nephew to introduce him to Bhanu Bhakta Acharya- the first Nepali poet and the translator of the Hindu mythological epic- The Ramayana to Nepali.
There is a 15 foot statue of him in the heart of Chowrasta. My nephew soon found himself in awe of the Adi Kavi's stature.
After that we went on a walk to the backside of the mall road. Sad in the bench, sang a funny song and laughed out heart out.
Hridhan started to play on the amusement installations by the roadside.
I wad watching him from the side, missing my own childhood and its fond memories.
