Hristo Stoichkov: Bulgaria's 1994 World Cup Hero 

I swear that year best teams were Bulgaria and Romania. Bulgaria was robbed by refs against Italy. Romania was unlucky lost to Sweden with penalties. They could be trouble to Brazil in the semis.

IwatchYuTup Bulgaria 🇧🇬 and Romania 🇷🇴 has cracking sides in that World Cup. Mexico 🇲🇽 was another side that should really have made the quarters at least. This man was scary to play against, dribble, passing, sprint, technique, fysique, free kick, one on one, box tot box. Perform in big games. A true boogeyman for every defender AND midfielder. This is a Guy who you want in your top eleven when you want trophies!

@Marcel Gomez, a Mexican defender broke it :) He cleared a header by Emil Kostadinov from the goal-line, hang on the net and a piece of the frame failed. Later the journalists said that the piece was first compromised by the supersonic shot for the goal of Hristo Stoichkov but it is a myth ;)

+KHR Well, Hristo was one of a kind but the others didn't lack skills. On the contrary, most of them were great players. Take for example: Balakov, Letchkov, Ivanov, Kostadinov, Mihaylov... But Stoichkov could decide the outcome of a game.

+KHR I agree. Certain players can inspire and instill belief in others. The type of player others would follow with every word.. Stoichov was that kind of guy.

I was lucky enough to watch the 1994 world cup, the best and most entertaining cup in my memory. Free flowing soccer, underdogs (Bulgaria, Romania, Sweden) playing incredibly well, Roberto Baggio being superb throughout. In the final I was rooting for Italy but when Brazil won and dedicated their victory to Senna's memory, I realized that Brazil deserved this victory.

I watched the 1994 World Cup on TV and to this day it was the best WC I've ever watched. It just felt magical and the teams seemed to have team spirit. There where so many special moments, like the goal from that Saudi Arabian, the Cameroonians playing, the Belgian goalkeeper trying to score a header at the last minute, the italian Pagliuca kissing the goal in the final...

Papin was there too. That French team deserved to be in the World Cup with 3 great forward players, but they stuffed up earlier by not beating Israel in the qualifiers. Ironically they won the World Cup 4 years later with only defenders and midfielders scoring all the goals (Cantona, Ginola or Papin were not there).
