Now we just need an honest and honourable goverrnment to come forward and keep the promises made to extend the lines to Manchester, Leeds and further north. Yeah. Politicians.
@@goober-ll1wx there’s a lot more south of Watford than just London, a much more varied economy aswell, London is highly prone to market fluctuations as it main sources of GDP is financial services, we need a balanced economy for steady growth
Thanks for an informative update. You should do more like this. Very often I'm left guessing as to what's going on my area around Aylesbury so videos like this are helpful.
This is fantastic news! Well done! I would think my commentaries on the Colne Valley viaduct work would be enough for most people, but I'd love to see this. I think the R Misbourne was mentioned, which has also been (very briefly) mentioned in some of my 444 videos, 86 of which are to do with HS2! All positive! Great news!
More great achievement from HS2 as we move forward to a cleaner future of High Speed Rail travel, taking cars and lorries of our congested roads while protecting our environment.
I see you're STILL posting nonsense & STILL haven't done any research. HS2 WON'T be "cleaner" during its expected 120 year lifetime. Research by the DfT & the Road Haulage Association shows that even if HS2 had been built in full, traffic on the M40 & M1 would decline by less than 1% & it'll have ZERO affect on domestic flights. As for the environment - are you aware that HS2 Ltd have already incurred numerous fines for multiple breaches of environmental issues? Thousand's of trees planted along the route in Warwickshire where the vast majority perished because of a lack of aftercare. The pollution of streams, rivers & other waterways with toxic chemicals. The bulldozing of mile upon mile of hedgerows containing nesting birds when they specifically promised to wait until the nesting season was over .. the list goes on.
What are you smoking? I got a 38min journey from London to Ipswich the other day for £108 return !!!!! This is not a green alternative when it's 3x the price of driving...
@@goober-ll1wx .. it's not a green alternative to flying either! Friend of mine had to travel to London recently at very short notice for a business meeting. Was quoted £314 for return rail ticket Newcastle to Kings Cross compared to £120 return flight Newcastle to Heathrow. Guess which form of transport he chose?
I have seen all this " ancient woodland " stuff before. I remember the same points when they told us we didnt need the M25. Where would we be now. The M25 wasnt built wide enough and work is still going on today.
This is advance civil engineering not just a railway build. We will always need these apprentices when they become qualified for our other projects (private and public).
Phase two WON'T happen! In a January interview, Sir Keir Starmer stated that when Labour win the next election, they've got no intentions of reviving any of the scrapped sections of HS2 because .. "it wasn't possible to do because the government have blown the budget & contracts are going to be cancelled", which is excellent news as HS2 is an environmental disaster of epic proportions & Britain's biggest infrastructure mistake in half a century.
Bet shes paid £18k a year to be an engineer and the bosses of whatever contractor is involved are taking £200k a year from the government for her position
It would much cheaper to put the whole thing - apart from some stations - underground in tunnels. No planning problems, no bridges, no disruption caused by spanning roads or rivers and no reduction in arable land on places of special scientific interest.
@@martinsloman6905 I was thinking somewhere between 15-20, 8 car trains wouldn’t make sense since we have the avanti west coast trains which can hold 11 coaches
@@evanssarpong5310the Avanti Pendolino trains are longer than the HS2 sets by about 60 metres, but the HS2 stations will be long enough that two sets could be joined up to make a 400m train, which, in response to the original comment, would be about 16 carriages long
Indisputably fantastic engineering but a tragic shame all this money skill and technology wasn’t directed towards projects we really really need such as producing sustainable energy alternatives, our rapidly declining water services and local transport improvements, which HS2 is not. Environmentally catastrophic and so much else in desperate need of investment and improvement in our country.
The HS2 team here are hated - thier selfish take over of all key roads and use of traffic lights to suit thier staff prioritised over local people - Miles of traffic every night to benefit thier staff. The whole area is ruined by this ugly structure.
Over 40 ancient woodlands have been ruined because of HS2 which are over 400 years old some of the ancient oaks so important to biodiversity where here since the sixteenth century
Oh hello again Matt. Still peddling your tripe about l'ost woodlands' I see. Same doodoo different day ... 😂😂 By the way Old Son you may want to read up on the meaning of the word 'biodiversity'. You clearly do not know now ...
You are always concerned about the environmental damage caused by HS2 construction. I class it very small by the way, when the remedial works are carried out. What's your plan for reducing short haul flights in this country ? taking heavy lorries off the motorways ? transporting an increasing population ?.
I believe the figure for the whole route (phases 1 and 2) amounts to 44 ancient woodlands, which would actually lose some trees over 345 miles of route. The total loss of this woodland would be 58 hectares or 0.018% of the UK total. By comparison, the Lower Thames Crossing will remove 57 hectares in 14.3 miles.
