You aren't learning the words isolated from each other, are you? I would recommend the youtube channels 'mandarin corner' (HSK vocab contextualised) and 'chinese zero to hero' (grammar explanations according to HSK Levels). I downloaded coursera and am doing the HSK 3 level course through Beijing univeristy - it is by far the best free source out there. "All set chinese" is a complete bank of grammar topics by level with loads of examples. Finally, I have found graded readers to be helpful in seeing vocabs in loads of different contexts and some even have grammar points to be aware of in each chapter. They're really cheap too on amazon ('chinese breeze' and 'mandarin companion' are the best out there, the latter quite a bit more expensive). I often listen to cultural channels and chinese interviews (e.g. asian boss), which are way beyond my current level, but I can follow some things and it's way faster than this, so this pace seems really manageable in comparison, especially after surrounding myself with content hammering HSK 3 vocab again and again. Got my HSK 3 exam in 2 months...feeling confident haha Hope that helps ;D

Don't know if pinyin would help. If you're legitimately trying to take the HSK3 test there's no pinyin, only characters.
