Well "the news" is usually something a lot more serious than tele shopping. Would be awkward if they talk about murder and rape and everybody laughing because the anchor said a word wrong.
Yeah QVC pulled that item from inventory live. They tried to save it by cutting to a computer demo but after two more failed attempts it was over. These two are drinking professionals and know how to remove a cork. It was definitely a defective product

Its why the old leverage cork screw style is still used today. It's quick fast and when you got company over you can't jack around with something like this. Besides the motions you have to do to remove the cork is totally inappropriate with company over.

The sad thing is there are so many people that watch this stuff and say to themselves "oh I need that for when I have dinner parties ", so they order it and when it comes they open it up and put it in the spare bedroom next to the unused quick chop that they had to have for dinner parties and the thousands of dollars worth of other useless garbage that they had to have for whatever occasion
Ive watched HSN and QVC for over half my life; since I was 14 or 15. I order 3 maybe 4 things a year, total. I watch it for entertainment mostly. The guests and hosts always try to make you feel welcome. They’re always in a good mood. During COVID times the guests (not the hosts) were live streaming for their houses. And then welcoming everyone into their homes is a feel good thing to watch. They’re like you or I, not living in million dollar mansions, just doing their best to make a living and be happy. It’s a good network to watch anytime
David Venable on QVC has a cult like following if you will. Mostly middle aged to older folks, but he’s real popular. He is without a doubt the biggest moneymaker though for both channels. HSN and QVC used to be different entities, but just a few years ago they were bought and combined, still different channels but no longer competing; same owner.
