A training for volunteers in the shelter environment on how to safely socialize cats with more specific needs! We label cats who don't have unpredictable or specific behaviors as BLUE & cats who need a bit more care & support with behaviors as YELLOW.
.
This video shows some more advanced behavior techniques & how to respond to specific behaviors. We discuss the importance of consent & setting a cat up for success while providing video examples of ways to socialize a cat in more non-invasive ways.

After I lost my second feline son to cancer I adopted another boy. He was extremely scared and would tighten up like an armadillo just touching. After two months he is better but still will hide under the bed. He has gotten used to me but still stays in a box I made for him. He has a good heart and gentle soul. As scared as he was he never hissed, snarled, bit or clawed. But the vet did give him an rx to help his timindness. He does love pets now and purrs like a V8 motor but still won't come out front where I have 3 cat trees and a big picture window. My older daughter cat is very gentle so he need not fear her. Vet said it takes about two months for his medication to help his shyness.

These videos are amazing! Thank you for respecting the animals so much, and educating us how to respect the proper order of interaction for optimal results.

You are the best resource I have found for taming adult cats. We live in an area where stray/feral cats arrive at our door often. I have tamed many younger feral cats. We take them to a local no kill shelter when space is available, but the shelter much prefers friendly cats. Usually this is not much of a problem At least until the most "trap savvy" cat I have managed to catch. (Had to manually trip the door with a string.) Sheldon Cooper has been a two month journey so far. (really smart somewhat behaviourly challenged(at least to me)) I was getting concerend that we would have to just release him to be an outdoor feral cat. That is until I found your videos. Showing some of your before and afters as well as tecniques, has allowed me to make progress. He went from an absoluty aggressive terror of a cat to enjoying pets and not growling everytime my wife went near him. He is now coming out for pets with coaxing. He is begining to play, though he is too clever. He looks for and finds the source of the moving object. (He looks at my hand holding a laser pointer, or the stick attached to the ribbon. (I am careful to make sure the laser never points where it could shine right in his eyes.) I think we are getting there. I am not sure he will ever be affectionate, but I am begining to believe he will be tame and adoptable.

Thank you so much! We aim to help kitties who need our help & of course, support the ones who dont, or who prefer an outdoor home. It can be a tricky decision figuring that out. Thank you for your BIG love of cats!!

Being in Canada, I do lean towards the idea that come winter, most cats here will be happier inside. We do have one neighborhood ferral who insists on staying outside. Vincent Vega (Vinnie) is quite stubborn. Thank you again. More progress tonight with Sheldon. He is really starting to enjoy being petted outside his hiding spot.
